Virus
It is worrying House1 but I personally would go to Ireland as planned. Take the normal precautions regarding personal hygiene, use a face mask if you’re going to be in amongst lots of people but most of all enjoy yourself. Xxxx
I would go too. Flu is just as dangerous if not more and we risk this every day? The Foreign Office would be grounding flights or issuing warnings if they were so concerned? Take your antiseptic gel and have a great time!xx
I would still go. I am also going to Ireland in April. Have a great time .x
Trip to Ireland been cancelled. 😥
I agree with the others; you should go and enjoy yourself.
A lot of people confuse hazard and risk. Coronavirus is hazardous because it has a 2-3% fatality rate, but the risk of catching it is very low because only 0.0005% of the world's population has it, and 99% of those are in China!
I think you'll be fine.
My hat is off to the Chinese for keeping this virus within their own borders, hopefully things will stay that way. I have spent much time in China and it must be terrible for them, such a tragedy for so beautiful a country and people.
You have got to be joking. The only two inhabitated places in the world where the virus hasn't reached are South America and Africa and the good old Chinese government failed to tell the world about the virus until it was reported to have raised it's ugly head outside China. I personally don't believe one word that the Chinese government are telling us.
Yes, I probably shouldn't have written that, apologies. However, let's not confuse a person's Government with it's people, they are often two separate entities with different agenda. My Government made me take part in a useless war which with all the associated fumes, poisons, mayhem etc was, some 50 years later I believe a major contributor to my ongoing health situation, (COPD/Emphysema).
Have a great time House1 and enjoy your holiday, dont let this virus spoil this for you x
Don't know the exact infection rate compared to normal flu but if you put "Infection rate of flu 2020" into google and click on the relevant gov.uk link you'll see normal flu infection rates.
e.g. normal flue last month "Over the last week (Dec 2019), GP consultations with flu-like illness decreased from 10.3 per 100,000 " so you'll need to decide if you weren't worried about catching the normal flu before the whole corona thing started, do you have a reason to worry now about a new virus? It will probably depend on how much you normally like to isolate yourself given your own condition. e.g. I never take my mum to places where there are many people to avoid catching anything but she has dementia so travelling and having an active life is less important to her.
