Unchanged.

β€’37 Replies

I was a bonny baby,

All new and pink and shiny

My ma was all aglow

Not a single hair

Was found upon my head

And I looked quite chubby

Lying there on the bed

Not at all bad looking

I'm sure you must admit

The only pity of it is

I haven't changed a bit

Still very bonny eh Don? Cute too I feel. πŸ‘πŸ˜˜πŸ’πŸ’– xxxx

How old would say I was there Carole? My mother wrote my date of birth on the back but not the date it was taken. My disrespectful friends reckon 2 or 3. 😑

I’d say 6 months plus Don as you’re really good at holding your head up. You’re such a sweet looking little baby. Xx πŸ˜ƒπŸ€—πŸ˜˜

I agree Carole. We had a photo just like this of my baby brother, he hasn't worn as well as Don. A Bonny babe indeed me duck. πŸ˜„

Never mention Donald and Duck in the same sentence, it makes my hackles rise even now after the trouble I had with it at school. 😠

β€’ in reply to

sorry Don, it's because I'm a Notts lass. We call everyone me duck.

β€’ in reply to

β€˜Luv a duck’ was a common expression of surprise that you don’t hear often theses days. Round here anyway.

Another smiler. Strange, but true! You see life as it really is Don. Hope you are feeling a bit brighter. Chrys

β€’ in reply toRoadRunner44

I'm fine thanks, Chrys. A bit of sunshine cheers everyone up and it looks like we might get a bit in the next couple of days. 😁

You can say that again. Went on a 3 mile walk with friends with lunch afterwards. Weather was good , sky blue and the sun was out. We walked along our coastline. It lifted our spirits. Lunch was Welsh Glamorgan sausages, and mash with vegetables and onion gravy. Sumptuous! Served in the pub what we locals call...The Pub on the Pond.

My exercise group is planning for a VE dance in May. We have booked a 40s type band and some professional dancers to show us how to do the dances. I always liked Glenn Miller type music. We are also providing war time sandwiches of spam and corned beef. I would be ever so grateful if you can think of any ideas to make it all go with a bang. Maybe you have some memories as to how you celebrated VE day. If so, could you post them on here Don. Perhaps a poem? Good to hear you are getting on fine at the moment.

Goodness me, I have so many memories of the 40s. I was a Post Office Messenger (Telegraph Lad) at the time aged 14. I have photo of me in my uniform which I'll probably post on here at some time.

Great, keep thinking of those memories and send them to me. I bet there are many people on here will have lots of memories too!

I had no photos taken as a baby which i think was probably wise

How were my parents ever going to disguise

They had created a small monster that no one would want to see

And folks would not want to gaze upon something that put them of their tea

I probably wasn't even born in the normal way

But knocked up in dads laboratory to pass the time of day. :)

β€’ in reply toskischool

You posted us a photo

Of you as a little lad

That showed you were a cutie

So you couldn't have been that bad.

skischoolβ€’ in reply to

A little bit like the moon landing,my photo was fake news

A bit of skullduggery and slight of hand ,merely to amuse

The reality is that i was really made from various bits and stuff

Cos both mum and dad had already created far much better stuff. :)

You can't fool us Skis, we've seen photos of your younger self, admittedly not of you as a baby. Not a monster in sight 😊

Lovely baby! I love baby photos. I can remember when the centre pages of dad's newspaper were all baby photos, now its so called celebrities in some weird fashions! x

β€’ in reply toLyd12

I've never thought of that before. They used to have baby competitions didn't they which you don't hear of any more?

You won't remember them as a child but you may remember them as a parent. "Sunny Smiles".they were little books that were distributed by charities and often seen at schools depicting orphaned children in Africa and imploring us all to buy a 'sunny smile' to help an orphaned child, they wouldn't be politically correct now but i think they were distributed by Oxfam or someone like that? :)

β€’ in reply toskischool

That's right I do remember. It was National Childrens Home here in Southport and I used to help out driving folk around now and then when my Aunt was a volunteer. One little lad stood out as a cheeky little rascal and I was so pleased when he pops up on the BBC Antiques Road Show recently as one of the experts.
