A poet, MOI!!

I used to write a poem or two

when I was just a lass.

but all my silly dayreams

put me bottom of the class.

I never touched my maths book,

Geography would bore me,

and as for art,

well it definitely floored me.

But stick a book of poems

into my little mitt

and I'd be in my element

for hours I would sit.

Tennyson, was my delight,

the Lady of Shallott,

I dreamed of writing odes

and long romantic rhymes.

But only ever managed

to waste me flipping time.

Creativity, in whatever form, is at the top of my list poems. Where would we be without our creative thinkers? You have a particular talent which gives us much pleasure. Cheers, Chrys

That last line should read 'but now's my catch-up time.' When did you write this one?

in reply to

This morning, it took 10 minutes which is why it's not very good. 😕

in reply to

Did you enjoy writing and posting it is the question, leave it to others to do the judging. I thought it was good.😀x

in reply to

Not really Don as I'm not used to writing 'on the fly'. I prefer to take some time to think about it. Some I've written took WEEKS to get them the way I want them. 😁

in reply to

I was misled by the name you use here. 🤔x

in reply to

Shall I change it then? What would you suggest?

in reply to

No of course not, it’s you now. 😘x

From a window in a previous house of ours, I could see into a neighbours kitchen where they had a bird in a cage hanging up. When I was pregnant, this bothered me and I wrote this -

A bird shouldn't be made

To live in a cage,

A bird should fly

High up in the sky

A bird should sing

Though his heart would ache

At the sight of the dawn

Of a new daybreak.

That is lovely Iris. And very true.

I can't agree more Iris, I still hate seeing birds in cages. They have wings and were made to fly. I really liked your poem as it contains an important message. Cheers, Chrys
