Hi Emily, nice to see you back!

Presumably you mean donating to the BLF? I’m not sure it’s possible to donate for specifics, it’s rather a case of the charity deciding on areas of research they will fund or part fund.

Have you looked on the BLF website? It should tell you there what current & future plans there are.

in reply topowderpuff

No I mean donating directly to research specific to emphysema. Like university of Australia. I want to donate to emphysema research as that my disease

Yes looked on BLF research just wondered if we could and if it would make a difference to finding the treatment to halt emphysema

I think you would need to make approaches yourself to find out that kind of info.

I have tried to do the same with Crohns & Colitis before & the closest I got was being able to donate to a patients association in my local hospital.

in reply topowderpuff

I have done that waiting for response as I want to know how far they are if donating will help ect. Also want to know how people with emphysema feel about this as dont want to be chasing my tail

Hi Emily61, glad you have returned!! I donate to the researchers directly....Universities...in the pulmonary research area that's what I have been doing. Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA, have been working on stem cells for emphysema. I donated to that research.

Take care!! Hope we get a cure, my friend.

Meg

P.S. the British Lung Foundation .....can always use donations for all there work also, they are a nonprofit.

Thought stem cell had stopped tbats positive are they at human trial yet..so much research and little breakthrough. What do you think of the cancer drug potentially halting copd

megshafer in reply to

Yes, I think they have started at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina...for pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema and Cystic Fibrosis and a few other lung diseases. You can Google, Duke University, Stem cells, there are quite a few articles. Mayo Clinic also started a lung regeneration program, that entails many things including stem cells. You can Google Mayo Clinic, Lung Regeneration...you'll find information there, also.

Take care, stay well😊

Emily, I have not read much on the cancer medication, but I plan on doing so soon. It sounds interesting, but then, I know many people, friends with lung cancer, some still have emphysema, some don't do to surgeries. I sometimes wonders why they can't surgically remove emphysema or most of it, as they do in removing blebs, etc.and, lung reduction surgery also removes some emphysema when making the lungs smaller. That one also makes sense to a few of my Respiratory Therapist friends!!

I have read all night, my friend...(one more chapter) a good book and I can't put it down!! ..so I must go to sleep, I have a bit of a busy on tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!
