This is me at 75yrs young. Treated myself to a bit of leopard lol.10yrs diagnosed with severe COPD but wont give in. Positivity is the way forward. Remember COPD is not terminal its progressive and you determine how to slow that down

I'll never give in. My daughters tell me to wear flat shoes but I cant .I have caught my heel on a long lace skirt I was wearing .it was a miracle I didn't break anything as I tripped and fell. Only my pride was bruised luckily. I prefer shorter length clothes now when wearing heels
Wear my maxi skirts with low heeled boots lol. X Sheila
Dear Sheila, apart from turning heads with the glam pose in a hopefully fake leopard(says Scruffy alarmingly)it would appear that you are sat next to the remains of a golden retriever on a green pouffe, are you in an abattoir or a shoe shop?
Whatever still living the life and looking good lass.
Hello ski school,I have been meaning to thank you for a couple of years,I wrote once saying I had been to a flight assessment, and I failed so the nurse said If I fly I must use Oxygen, you wrote saying it's not always actuate, you mentioned about taking blood from the ear ,of course I had to go privately but it showed up my Oxygen levels were 96to98 .
Thank you from the bottom of my heart , if you had not mentioned it I would have never known or travelled by air ,my lung specialist just laughed and said what a waste of money,I replied Peace of mind is more important to me.
I wish π you Ski's and Scruff's An amazing Christmas and a Healthy and happy new year, stay well ,breath easy .πππΉ.
Oh that is nice, thank you,for the flight assessment to be done properly that is the gold standard procedure and often respiratory nurses make assumptions albeit with good intentions well beyond their capabilities, especially when it comes to oxygen, going private was an investment in your future and makes travelling not only possible but a darn sight more convenient and cheaper without the need to carry cumbersome equipment or run the gauntlet of airline restrictions and extra costs.
I knew you travelled a lot and how disappointed you were on their initial assessment so that has kind of made my day.Enjoy your Christmas and keep that flight bag handy.
Thank you. My consultant is amazed with my lung function reading I should be on 24/7 oxygen but I wont give in. My Consultant told me to carry on whatever J am doing as its working. I just keep Positive and thankful as many are far worse off than me
Just keep going and never give in is NY Motto.xx Sheila.
I have only been told I have severe COPD. I understand what you are saying but I was told it's an umbrella of different diseases but they have never said which ones. I never ask as have learnt too much information can be dangerous .I do not have the symptoms of bronchitis so maybe its emphysema who knows . When I asked my lung function I was told the test reads 30% but then my Consultant added you do not look like someone with a
That result. It's only figures and everyone is different. I have learnt not to ask too many questions as sometimes it's not good. I saw my Consultant Tuesday and he always says I amaze him so that makes me feel better. My lung function will deteriorate anyway with age and that's a fact..I do what I can albeit a little slower but what's the rush so I take it all in its stride. Hope you keep well xxSheila
Hi garshe, same with me I have boderline copd for 2yrs now and my doctor never told me what kind I have, and I never did ask, all I know is I have 2 small nodules on my lungs but too small to diagnosed. I feel great and bread better. Stay positive garshe. Love peppy05
Thank you that's so lovely. I love my clothes, think I have a problem as keep buying lol. The fashion at present is my style. My exercise is walking around the shopping precincts so I keep seeing all the lovely clothes. x Sheila
When first diagnosed severe COPD 10yrs ago ,googled it and said life expectancy was 1-3yrs. I panicked. Saw my Consultant and he said test results are only figures each individual is different. Your attitude can change it and that's the way I looked at it from that day. There are some with better lung function than me on 24/7 oxygen and in a wheelchair. I wont give in. Saw my Consultant on Tuesday and he said whatever I'm doing keep doing it as its working. Lots of love Sheila xxππ₯°
Thank you Sheila for your words. Just been diagnosed and feeling rather down. A timely reminder that life is for living, and to always keep positive. You look amazing, luvvin' the look. You rock leopard print. Xxxx
Just remember it's not Terminal just progressive. You can slow that down. I know the feeling of when first diagnosed. I was Severe when diagnosed 10yrs ago and still Severe but also still active and enjoying life. I wish you a long and active life xxSheila. π
You look amazing and I love the leopard print but what I really admire and love about you is your wonderful, positive attitude, your fighting spirit and fierce determination to not let this awful disease define who you are.
You are a great inspiration to new people who are just diagnosed and feeling frightened and to others who may be feeling like giving up.
Thank you Corin. I know how I felt when first diagnosed so frightening..and most people think Chronic stands for terminal .it doesn't just means long lasting. I am 75 now and even if I didn't have COPD I would not be as active as when I was younger. Our lungs start to deteriorate from about 27yrs to age. I just am grateful for every single day and thankful to be here. Have a lovely day and I wish you a long and happy and healthy life.xxSheila ππ
Well at the moment I am just starting to put my face on and do my hair. Takes me longer thesedays as I stop now and then have a cuppa and never rush. I have plenty of time so what's the hurry. That's the secret of living with COPD never rush. Off out later to do my M&S Christmas food shopping. Praying not too many crowds so we can park near shop. I go out almost every day as this is my exercise, trouble is I end up buying new clothes lol. Have a lovely day and take care.xxSheila π
Thank you for sharing that with me many times i felt like giving up but somehow find myself telling myself to stop being silly that ive got grandkids who need me but sometimes i shout at my lungs that i hate them but i do have good days im not on oxygen either but i feel so alone at times i do cheer up thou hope this dont make me sound awful once agaun thank you for sharing that with me love from val
It was my Granddaughter that saved my life I gave up smoking to ser her grow up. Shes 11 and shes my World. My grandson is 28 so I had the pleasure of seeing him grow into a man. Think of the ones worse off with terminal illnesses .you'll be fine be Positive xx Sheila
We all were scared when diagnosed but when you look at the ones still here decades on it gives hope. Tell your Mum theres no rush slow down and concentrate on breathing. Breathing slowly is the answer otherwise you use up your oxygen My lung function reads 30% but my Consultant says I do not look like someone with that reading. It's only a number and the test differs daily so ignore them . I do lol I wish your Mum well and a long life xxππ Sheila
Just be Positive Rebecca. Just got back from xmas food shopping in m&s it was bedlam. Kept my cool and didn't rush. Some were like lunatics I told them keep calm lol.glad to be back home now. Leave them to it . π xxSheila
Thats the way to do it girl, looking great, keep that attitude it will see you through. Just love the leopard coat, it really suits you, as do the boots. Wish I could still wear heels. Making the effort seems to get harder with the passing years but it proves that with a postitive attitude life can be good. Keep enjoying your life x
I take ventolin, sirdupla both inhalers also Spiriva. I started on Azithromycin 3 a week Monday Wednesday and Friday as a precautionary antibiotic to avoid infections. Started October. I do take supplements. Turmeric, Chlorella and Spirulina daily .I swear by these .also eat lots of green Veg and fish as good for lungs. xxSheila π
Thank you Sheila, I eat loads of fish, always have done and love my veggies so I am dong something right. I have been wondering about Turmeric and think you have made my mind up. Many thanks. Pat x
Thank you. Takes me quite a while to get ready thesedays but I make the effort every day . Going out and about cheers me up and meeting people. My husband days I'll speak to anyone and that's correct. It's my exercise walking around shopping precincts better than the gym lol. xxSheila
Great Photo, keep thinking positive ,that's the way up ,I once asked an consultant how advanced is my COPD he asked me do I really want to know, with that I said not really.
Its only numbers and everyone reacts different. My spirometry results are terrible but my Consultant is amazed at the way I am. The first time I met him as hes new was July this year. I walked in his room at hospital and he said
Sorry are you Sheila Phillip's I said yes he said date of birth I told him he then said I was expecting someone much older .I said well I am 75 he said whatever you are doing keep doing. He had my results of the test I had just taken which I nau aff was at the end of an extremely long corridor so I was out of breath before I started the test..he said then I didn't look like someone with those results . It made me feel great hearing that so that makes me Positive. The tests are numbers and best not to know sometimes or you could dwell on it.
Wow well that's great what your doctor said ,it certainly helps being positive, sometimes I can walk quite quickly on good days ,as long as I can fly with the plane with out Oxygen then ok.
You certainly do look amazing and of course your doctor saw you in person so you look a lot younger.
Take care sweetie.
Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year π§ββοΈ
