A Sticky Subject

I don't know what is going on

Down there inside my chest

It's manufacturing something

Which I'd describe at best

As a very good adhesive

That will stick to anything

It pops out unexpectedly

And to anything will cling

It might sound so disgusting

But that's as it may be

It's what we have to live with

When we've got COPD

Morning Don, I feel for you, though after all the Meds over the Years, I don't really suffer with The Glue, it seems, I have Dry Lungs now, But many Years ago, I could cough up Buckets. in fact when Hubby Wallpapered He didn't have any Paste, (Yes, you see it coming), so I thought well ! I have enough, Job Done. Ha Ha . Thanks for another Great Rhyme for the day. Love n Hugs . XXXX

Hi, You say you have dry lungs now. So are mine as I can't bring up anything for them to analyse. Do you know why this is? Does it mean it's better and the colomycin I nebulize has worked maybe. Chrys

I'm not sure Chrys, I did ask my Consultant. I told her I had reduced my Carbosisteine to 2 a day, also, Azithromycin is Great for keeping Infections at bay, maybe the combined two has enabled to Dry the Mucus up? I recently had a course of "Oramorph"(Morphine) which could have Dried it up? We are never sure how they all can interact with each other and our Bodies, As I say , Amy didn't have an answer only that it is a combination, possibly the Oramorph.? We are all a Mystery Chrys. We are very Interesting magical People. Love n Hugs. XXXX

I have no breathlessness, I feel totally well in myself. Yet every 24 -30 hours i star to cough and then lots of sticky gunk starts to come up... the episodes can last from 5 - 30 minutes. Once out I am fine again.

That’s not so good Don but I hope things improve soon.

Love and hugs to you and Midge. Xxxxx

in reply tosassy59

It’s normal for me Carole I thought it was for most of us. It’s only a problem if I don’t cough any up or it becomes bright green. even then it’s not a problem unless I start feeling rough then antibiotics and steroids are required.

Good morning Mr.D and you've got me in stiches laughing 😂😂😂, because it's so true. Us COPD'ers manufacture the best adhesive "gunk" known to man. So Mr D. for your brilliant rhyme, its a .......🏆CLASSIC🎉🎊✨!!!!

Hope that you're on the abs Don and that you improve very soon. Take care XX P

in reply topeege

Nothing stops the production process and I deal with that, it’s just becomes a problem when I pick up a bug now and then.

Get to the doctor's straight away sounds like you have something nasty brewing down there.

Need to take care at your age.

Or any age with COPD.

in reply toDilly2

Oh I do take care Dilly thank you. I’ve learnt over the years when antibiotic and steroids are called for, but it still takes time for them to work.

I have to be more vigilant about what I read while eating my lunch.

Seriously though, I hope you start to feel better soon.

Brian Cox would gaze in wonder at this mess the universe makes

No doubt Mary Berry would show us how to use it in some bakes

Monty don would dig it in his garden and make the flowers grow

Greta thurberg would tell us facts that we really don't want to know

But this gooey stuff you talk of Don that lurks inside our chest

Is normally a very good sign that our lungs are past their best . :) x

You just get better and better at this. Lovely 😀.

The way we all seem to be going at the moment, all of us!!!

I saw dr yesterday got even more antibiotics & higher steroids. Apart from now looking like a sumo wrestler from mirtazipine, i too can provide wallpaper paste & with serious back pain nearly took the roof off when he touched it! Verdict is infection - what a surprise- pain not from lungs aa wheezing rather than cracking & if breathing gets any worse hospital! I don’t think so somehow- I’m planning on surviving Christmas not getting something else. Good luck all happy wallpapering

Cap'n, I have had rolls of 'paste the wall' wallpaper waiting for me to hang it for the past several years in my porch - but have not really been quite well enough to perform this particular task - however the contents of your chest sound absolutely perfect especially as the paste I purchased years back may well have dried out by now - so please keep it in tip top condition for me as I am sure only you can! ;-) x

This thing that makes us cough cough cough

Could seriously hack us off.

Others think it quite outrageous

When we say it's not contagious.

They just stare and tut and glower

While we cough for one whole hour.

There's no sign of their compassion

When they berate us with a passion.

If we were as unkind as them

We'd cough and cover them with our phlegm.

😁

What fun you’re having with your sticky rhythms. I too have had this junk clog my throat for more than 2 years. I have IPF and something called organising pneumonia. The glue clogs my throat, gets up my nose and causes gagging nights. 3 specialists said they had no clue. The fourth said, of course, it mucilitis. That’s what’s showing up on your scans and x-rays. Now I’m a buddy to a scientist working on this problem. Let’s hope he can nut it out with me as his pet guinea pig. I am sure there is a solution to all of this!

With bronchiectasis, I have to do my breathing exercises religiously, every day, and produce a lot of mucous, about three tissues worth and then more on and off during the day. That way I do shift the mmajority of it in a fifteen minute session. Very tiring, never want to do it, but believe it helps to keep the bugs away. Love Iris x
