Introducing myself and asking a question! Do any of you take Spiriva2.5 1 puff 2 x a day instead of 2puffs 1 x a day?

Hi, I’ve been reading and responding to posts on this site for about a year. I am diagnosed with bronchiectasis and asthma. I had asthma as a child but out grew it when I was about 16. I didn’t have any issues until 20 years ago due to an environmental accident over a period of 6 months; My lung function went from 100% to less than thirty%. I was on the transplant list for 6 years but was much too functional to actually receive a lung. I took my self off the list 6 years ago when I was 70 for several reasons: resistance to antibiotics; numerous allergies; decent quality of life, etc. when I was finally diagnosed in 2000; I was given 3 months to three years to live and told I would be on oxygen 24/7 the remainder of my life. Within 6 months I was walking without oxygen and within 2 years I was walking 3 miles without oxygen. I did senior aerobics and yoga at my local Y! I body surfed waves in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, etc. Anyway, in 2012 and 2013 I was in Mayo Lung Transplant Center 13 times with gram negative infections....and at home on IV’s 5 times....tough battles! I was giving you background before asking my question but do want to comment that no one can predict how long you have “left on this earth”. That’s up to your higher power and you! MY QUESTION: 2.5 actuation once twice a day instead of twice once a day! Thanks for your help!

That's quite some achievement 😎 I don't know why some doctors give these terrible prognosis, unless it's to incite people to get out there and Live a good life. I don't think that's why though and way to go for defying their predictions.

With the spiriva, I was told 2 puffs once a day.

Thanks, HungryHufflepuff! It’s good to get your insight! I’m also on the strongest dose of symbicort. With his ok, when I’m doing well, I take only one puff twice a day. I use a spacer and after taking one puff and while holding my breath on the first huff I put my hand over the spacer. Then without spraying a new dose, I take a deep breath from the spacer and get some of the meds that was still in there. My respiratory therapist said that was a good idea and it works great for me when I’m doing well! Thanks for your input!

I was told 2 puffs once a day but im not you (that is only one capsule). your dr may think spreading the dose out over 24 hours would work better for you. I think you need to ask him his reasoning. Ask for a phone call to clarify things.
