Going back to work
Good for you Angie. I am a great believer in doing whatever we can within our personal limitations to keep us in the real world, enlarge our circle of aquaintences and nurture our spirits. This is why I volunteer at a heritage attraction and am involved in the theatre in a volunteer capacity. I have never known so many lovely people.
When I am laid low by my bronch, wanting to get back to it helps me recover I'm sure. ❤️
Thanks little pom I have to give it another shot I miss my career and all be it a different hospital I will give it a go....you need to do what keeps you going...you seem to do a lot of things with your time good on you being active is a must xxxx
Great idea Angie! Yesterday I ha a full lung ssessment, pretty much the sameas 2013-why? T decided in 2015 take on more exercise in addition to weekly rehabI use a treadmill at least twice a week and joined a bowling club.
I am convinced that within reason keeping your body fit and your nmind occupied is the best medicine.Go for it and enjoy! My Gran had bronch most of her life, she was one busy lady and finally decided to polish the pearly gates aged 94.

WTG! Never give up...no matter how bleak things can look. My COPD is moderate with still 60% lung function. When my disability was denied in February,(long boring story), I had no choice but return to work...ANd since I am in construction that was not an easy process. During my first 2 weeks I believe that I nearly died.. I was at the point that coworkers accused me of being "stoned" because immediately upon returning to work a major exacerbation set in..I worked through it. I was told that people would speak to me and I would ignore them and simply stare into space, My skin color was extremely frightening, a fact that I did not even realize at the time..and only realized when a mirror was thrust into my face. Literally could not keep any food down and was regurgitating just about anything that I put into my body...as I said...for about 2 weeks. Mornings I would force down dry toast and chew a multivitamin...this was my only source of nutritional intake...I really felt like dying for that 2 weeks...but I fought on.
I believe that the main cause of my exacerbation was a massive infection caused on the jobsite. If you know anything about the construction business, there is a large segment of the employees who will urinate into ANYTHING that is available...bottles..cans...bathtubs...sinks etc and just leave these containers lying around to be spilled or whatever.. This I believe was the main cause.
Could not, (and still cannot LOL), afford to go to the doctors, not only since I just returned to work and could not lose my job, but also because I fell through the cracks of the supposedly wonderful ACA.(Obamacare here in the U.S... It appears that since i was not working when I applied...I did not make enough money to qualify for the subsidies..I know sounds stupid.
To shorten the story, I began taking (self prescribed) clindamyacin ( antibacterial) that I literally found on the jobsite...5 days later I began a remarkable improvement.
Here I am 7 months later, still alive and kicking and working 5 days a week at full time. Not a comfortable thing to do, but I truly believe that returning to work saved my life. Now at least I am only a shelving installer, much easier than the insulating that I was doing before. On a given day I have to climb at minimum 3 or 4 flights of stairs multiple times carrying not only tools and equipment, but also shelving and installation materials.
I believe that where there is a will....there is a way.
Have since come up with a decent list of nutritious (but bland), foods that I am capable of eating without too many complications, I chew my non-chewable multivitamin every morning and down it with either low sodium V8 juice of fresh orange juice. The vitamins (chewing them) takes a bit of getting used to, not the most appealing flavor... but I can keep them in my stomach that way, When taking them solid I would always throw them back up whereas they seemed to turn into a sticky oily bubbly mass in my stomach.
NEVER give up and I am pulling for ya!
