colomycin
Hi John
You will need to speak to your consultant as only they can prescibe these nebulised drugs. Colomycin makes me wheezy but I am ok with ceftazidime. There is also tobramycin and gentamycin. It will all depend on how you react.
Did you find out at the assessment John?
I was fine at assessment but the breathlessness came on gradually until my GP sent for ambulance as I couldn’t string a sentence together. This happened to a lesser extent with Tobramycin. I do have asthma too.
I agree with Littlepom - you really need to contact your consutant for her/his next plan of action. Hope you and they find something which will benefit you.
Good luck

Hello John, I can't tolerate Colomycin Unfortunately I reacted with a full blown rash consultant stopped it. I now take Ciprofloxacin and iv in hospital.
When in the position we are in, taking or nebulizing these drugs,It makes me realize the importance of gaining as much knowledge of them as we can. This forum really helps! You are obviously trying to build up your knowledge after your unpleasant reaction to colomycin. I believe the more knowledge we acquire will help us to manage our conditions as well as we can.
I was fine with my test dose of inhaled colomycin but had a bronchospasm after three weeks. The respiratory specialist nurse suggested I took two puffs of my ventolin inhaler and then try it. If that didn't work then to stop and contact them. Touch wood, it did the trick and I've been nebulising colomycin for about four months. But as you can see, we are all different and best to discuss with your consultant.
