HI, I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis 6 years ago. I really don't know if the pain in the upper back that I have is connected to this. The doctor suggested it was poor posture and after seeing a physio she showed me how to bend over and make a round back to ease the pain when it occurs. I have tried googling but can't get any firm answer. When it comes on I take a cocodamol tablet and it eases the pain. I know my answer is not going to help much but I'm looking forward to seeing what other members have to say.

I do but on the opposite side to the lung that has the bronchiectasis so I think mine is more muscular than to do with the illness. Speak to your GP x

Hi Sevenstar1, I certainly get discomfort in my back and side even when infection free. I put it down to inflammation following an infection. Don't know if I am correct. I have had the disease from babyhood causd by mercury in teething powders. I remain very active doing tai chi, zumba and walking n the countryside. Not easy but the secret is to keep as active as we can.

Hi Sevenstar 1, I have bronchiectasis and get pains here and there, today a bit of a stabbing pain at the bottom of my right lung. I think its mostly muscular because of the coughing. If in doubt it is always good to get it checked out, good luck

Thank you all so much for your replies , sounds like you guys all get the odd pains too ! I don't feel they are muscular, but coughing I guess will cause inflammation! I googled Costochronditis which sounds similar .I guess there is so much going on in these areas there is bound to be something! Incidentally, my GP wasn't very helpful but you guys are great !

I get pain in the front of my chest ,shoulders and arms but only down to my elbows it kinda of feels like inflimation ,all I know is its very uncomfortouble. I also get a raw feeling in my esophagus and down to my stomach when I drink anything warm or hot but soothing if I drink a cold drink , my daily antibiotic ( azithromycin) help to control this but doesnt eliminate it completely, I suggest you educate yourself as best you can about bronchiacatisis and take on board what people have learned and post about this illness ,good luck
