On the 17th September my husband had his pre op assessment at Blackpool Victoria, all went well and we waited for transport to Preston, one and three quarter hours.Within 30 minutes of arriving home he had a cardiac arrest in the bathroom, paramedics did CPR and brought him round.Admitted to coronary care in Preston and then Blackpool where a week later he had a second arrest and we were told he only two or three days to live but he surprised everyone and opened his eyes and started talking .His lungs are very bad and because of LTOT he cannot have surgery for his stent also his aortic valve has narrowed and cannot be replaced .He is now back in Preston and nothing more can be done. All the changes have worsened his Alzheimer's and he is very confused. Its happened so quickly and we are all very upset.

Prayers 🐞
Thankyou all for your kind thoughts and best wishes. They tried to discharge him earlier this week, the OT asked him to walk round the bed and explained the Home First plan. His bed would be kept for two hours while they assessed the situation and installed anything necessary As we don't have two beds downstairs we have delayed the assessment .We are still trying to get a hospital bed on loan.If not successful I am going to try a military charity as my husband served 22 years in the British army.He is very tired but his appetite has improved and I haven't bothered too much about his diet.
The hospital discharge team should arrange the delivery of a hospital bed at home before even contemplating discharge, they are also charged with checking the home environment to ensure all his basic needs are in place if that involves home support and liasing with social services..don't accept anything less and you shouldn't need to go to the Army for charity
Please be advised i have been through this all before when my wife was discharged from hospital after a severe stroke and i am speaking with some authority on the matter, don't accept anything less.
Best wishes Ski's and Scruffy x
