Nebuliser Mask Allergy

Morning all

I seem to be developing some kind of rash on and around my nose and am wondering if it’s from my regular use of a nebuliser for the last few weeks - 2/3 times a day since being hospitalised with SOB through a possible mucus plug.

Does anyone else have this problem, and if so how do you treat it?

Hello Brian, so good to see you and sorry to hear about your problem. Do you use a mask with the nebuliser? That could well be causing the rash. Pete prefers the mouth piece so perhaps that would be better for you.

Hope things improve very soon. Thinking of you and your family. Xxxxx 😘😘😘😘

Hi Carole, and thank you. I’ll get a mouthpiece and give that a go. I should have thought of that but hey ho 🤨 Hope you are both doing ok xx

It’s just worth a try Brian. We’re ok thanks and hoping to see someone else about Pete’s back pain. Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long.

You take care. Xxxx😘

Hello, I have used a nebulizer for five years. I have bronchiectasis. I was offered a facial mask or mouthpiece when first given one but opted for the mouthpiece and have never had any problems. Perhaps you could ask your doctor if you could try this as an alternative to the mask. At least with this you would be giving your rash an opportunity to clear up.

Yes thank you, I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that 🤣 Appreciate the advice 😊😊

Hi Brian

I use budesonide in my nebuliser as well as the antibiotics. I use a mask as the pseudomonas is I’m my sinuses as well as lungs. However the leaflet says to wash face and clean teeth immediately after use to reduce side effects. I have noticed a slight rash on my face after using which goes with the hour. I only get this when using the budesonide. As others have said the mouthpiece may suit you better.

My wife found the mouthpiece that goes with the nebuliser, so if I have to use it tonight I will give that a go 😎
