Hi Mave, and welcome
Sorry you have been so ill.
You probably need to check in with your doctor to get your lungs checked again, assuming if you've had a lung infection you were given Antibiotics and oral steroids, if those have finished you still need to go back and get your lungs checked again to make sure the infection is still not present. If you have a sterile pot from the doctors surgery, do the first sputum sample and waking in the morning and take that to the surgery for testing before midday, check with your Surgery about this. you doctor will need to write a docket to go with it.;
Discuss with you doctor the relentless coughing and If you've not already been prescribed it ask for a prescription of carbocistein to help keep the mucus thin and easier to cough up.
In the mean time drink plenty of water and steam inhalation may help, also hot water and honey of lemon and honey drink.
You don't say how long ago you were diagnosed but if you've not done one recently ask for a referral to a pulmonary rehabilitation course to help get you back on your feet.
Eat well, as on BLF website and exercise some daily even if just short walks inside or outside.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Well I’m Asthmatic then started with a cough / mucus constant for 3 yrs . Spirometer results showed mild COPD/ Bronchitis anyway it’s taken 5 yrs to now be free of the symptoms as I’m on an antibiotic 3x weekly and the inflammation that was causing infection after infection has stopped.
And my last Spirometer test showed no COPD
I was always told oh that Cough is your Asthma / COPD it’s normal . I’ve lost count of how many Antibiotics /Steroids I’ve had only to last a few weeks then back for more. GP delay referring so in the meantime your not getting any better.
Perhaps need to be checked by a doc.
When you cough,are you bringing any mucus up. I coughed for years,thought it was normal with asthma ,then Beas prescribed carbocysteine,which helped a lot( thinned the mucus? Sine my diagnosis of NSIP have been using a nebuliser an,really helps. The county respiratory team provided my nebuliser
