The Parting.

I parted from some friends last year

And still feel rather sad.

The friction that rose between us,

Was getting really bad.

We did have numerous meals together,

Which for years went really well.

Exactly where it all went wrong

Is very hard to tell.

I thought about this for ages

I didn’t want us to part.

But in the end I thought I must

Put head ahead of heart.

The friendship ended there and then

As I knew it would.

And though I say this of myself

My new dentures look quite good.

You really must not fall out with teeth

The parting must be really brief

I am pleased to hear you like those new gnashers

And you can now enjoy crispy bacon rashers.

Can't wait to see the new smile Master Po.:) x

Found that very sad. Same thing happened to me I don't think they understand the lung stuff just think your making a fuss

They say to me why don't you come to our house for a change

When they visited I don't think they could have noticed the stairlift the downstairs toilet or me plugged into oxygen machine

See what you've made me do rant on and on.. think I'll get some new teeth

in reply toDilly2

Ha ha ha! you played me at my own game Dilly2. I thought you had taken me seriously until I got to the last line. 😄

in reply toDilly2

The trouble with getting new teeth is that you don't know which is more painful, wearing them or paying for then. 😱

If you buy the unbreakable ones at £900

pair,then it is the paying.

There is a good story I heard during my training, most likely an "urban myth" as came across it in 3 hospitals.

Trainee Nurse on the Geriatric (to be Politically Correct "Elderly Care") Ward, asked to do the "teeth cleaning" am rota for the ward. She (always a she!!) went round the ward with a large plastic basin and collected all the teeth, cleaned them up beautifully, only then did she work out, that she had not kept them in pairs and did not know who any of them belonged to, Chaos then ensued whilst she tried teeth out in every mouth.

Re Political Correctness, why am I now no longer allowed to call elderly care consultants Geriatricians. Consultants for children are still call Paediatricians and Gynaecologists are not called pregnant women's consultants. Yes using Greek in medicine a little old fashioned, but we all know what it means (or most of us) and has been used for a long time.

in reply toSORRELHIPPO

PC is a load of nonsense. I’d feel better cared for by being treated by a Geriatrician than elderly care consultant. There must surely be young care consultants or is it a case of the elderly looking after their own?🤔

I’ve heard the mixed up denture story a few times. I do hope it’s true. 😂

My friend Janette was a nurse -- she trained in Edinburgh and is _very_ pernickity ... but she told me that as a trainee on her very first night shift, she was told to collect and clean all the false teeth from the patients on the geriatric ward -- and she threw them all into a bowl. She said that she was half way through the brushing thereof when suddenly it hit her, that she had no idea whose teeth were whose.

So there you have it -- straight from the nurse's mouth.

Cheers

Am I the last to catch up with today's headlines Mr.D ? I do like something I can really get my teeth into 😁 and you've been so accommodating with your rhyme.

Yes!!! It's a ✳✳CLASSIC✳✳ Mr.D. 😜😂😂😆😘

in reply toSquirrelsHolt

To be honest SH I first posted this one 2 years ago. I don’t like repeating myself but I had trouble coming up with something new. Having a lot of responses like I have had usually kick starts me off again so tomorrow’s will be new.😉x

My late husband Bob popped his dentures in his cardigan pocket after a meal and settled down to watch TV. A short while later we heard our dog Laddie crunching on a bone. That was odd - we hadn't given him a bone recently. Turned out he'd stolen Bob's dentures out of his pocket and was chewing them up! It took months before the dentist was able to produce a new strong well-fitting set.

Poor Bob it must’ve been so hard going around with no dentures and not being able to chew anything but I have to say it is quite funny 😂💜💜

Good one. I have 9 of my own teeth left and wish they would just get rid of at least the bottom 4.

Nothing but trouble my teeth, dentists love me. Paid for a couple of cars I reckon.

in reply toPhil40

Hang on to those bottom teeth

They're worth their weight in gold.

Because the bottom dentures

Need something to keep hold.

If they have no anchor

Of this there's little doubt

When you have a coughing fit

They'll come shooting out

Phil40 profile image
Phil40 in reply to

Haha thanks for the advice you cunning linguist! I will endeavour to hang on to the little guys after all.

Still trying to get used to top plate; not too bad and definitely great to be able to eat stuff that isn’t totally soft!

Strange feeling wearing it though, didn’t expect that and not really told much about it either of course by my dentist.

When did all doctors and dentists decide to stop telling patients anything at all about what is going on?

Getting any information out of them is like, well, pulling teeth yes bet you saw that coming haha.

Have a good weekend!
