Fully recovered from COPD Exacerbation

I just want to say thank you for your support on here when I suffered my first episode a short while ago. It it wasn't for this place then I wouldn't have known about rescue packages - I was guilty of too much Googling and getting nowhere but frightened!

I now seem to be fully recovered, so was very lucky to only have a problem for a few days - I know that for others it can take a lot longer to feel better. I am well aware that it could happen again at any time, but I now feel better equipped to deal with the everything.

Oh, and I usually have a read through posts most evenings and a little while back there was a gentleman who tongue in cheek recommended alcohol.........I have to say that I agree with him, a stiff whisky at bedtime works wonders!!

Hi, glad that you’re feeling better.

If can be quite scary, especially in the early days.

I’m new to this too.

I hope you stay well & enjoy your “wee dram”!! 😋

Yes it is definitely scary, but I am trying not to dwell on that episode and move foreward positively.

I definitely enjoy my wee dram!

So glad you have recovered so quickly Saro1 and that must give you confidence going forward. Keep it up 😉

And yes, a drop of the hard stuff is a good nightcap 😂

I was lucky I think, and it will definitely help if and when I have another flare up. I hope that others who suffer one for the first time will take heart from my experience.

Yes, can be absolutely terrifying. Happy you made it through this one. There are triggers, probably of a personal nature, such as how much weight can you lift or carry, and how far. Bring in the shopping some days, I have to lean against the kitchen counter and just wait for the tachycardia and hyperventilation to lower...I'll also use the rescue albuterol at this time.

Thank you - yes it is terrifying and I have noticed how carrying shopping can make my breathing worse; also first thing in the morning. We always walk for around an hour or an hour and a half first thing, and I now use my blue inhaler beforehand so that I can do this without problems.
