Hi Folks, hope all is well. I thought this article may help folks who worry about poor breathing while exercising.

Cheers Dave.

Breath easy exercise often.

My motto. ''Yes I have COPD but COPD does not have me''

I was a convert, just after diagnosis, before doing PR even. I exercise a lot, almost always to my limit and still work full-time, refusing to retire. Consequently there is still so much I can still do, not to the extent of before my breathing was compromised, but enough to maintain a good decent quality of life and still be independent. I kept up exercising even when diagnosed with lung cancer, which a year later, enabled me to take on a sailing holiday. I will admit that it is all very hard work with a lot of determination, but 3 years on, I can say that it is all very worth while.

Hi 2greys Good to read your reply. I am 75 yrs young retired when I was 69. My FEV1 last test was 19%. I am on oxy at night 1 LPM but am still active. I exercise every day walking, exercise bike, swimming, elastic bands etc. I lead an active life. I will not let it take charge of me. It is hard work but that never killed anyone. Have a good weekend. Cheers Dave.

I use an exercise bike and a rowing machine. I do not drive, so walk all the time and on my feet all day at work. Live up 3 flights of 14 steps and carry a 25 Kg loaded shopping trolley up them. 69 years soon and FEV1 28% (tested at GP's surgery, so not really accurate) and still "Batteries Not Required" (not on oxygen) :)

Another inspirational person. You, 2greys and others on this site are making me realise that I will continue to exercise regularly, etc and fight this illness as much as I can.
