Hi has anyone been in Broadgreen for IV treatment for Bronchiectasis? How many times a day did you have it, did it hurt when the meds were pumped through? If you had a Picc line in did that hurt when they inserted it?What did you think of the hospital?

Hi OAP27
IV treatment does not hurt. Unless you do not like a little needle prick. I have had loads of them. They use very thin needles. someone sticking a pin in your bum would hurt much more. Just close your eyes and relax do not tense yourself. The medication is controlled to a slow drip into your artery. You do not know it is even there. When the IV bottle is empty they will take the needle out slowly and you will NOT feel a thing.
Trust me.
Hi I have had quite a few stays at Broad Green for various things. In my opinion it is a great hospital with exceptional Doctors and nursing staff . We are very lucky to have this hospital on our doorstep
I wouldn’t worry. You will be well looked after
Regards
Brian
It is a shame you have to go into hospital for IV antibiotics. I (and my husband) have been trained to do these at home. Four times a day for about 40 minutes seems minor instead of sitting in hospital for 14 days!
The consultant thinks I’d be better in he says. Do your meds hurt as they go through? Did you have a Picc line inserted, did that hurt?
Duesn hurt, just look away when the canula is inserted, thing to watxh is when the nurse flushes it with saline fluid slowly, too quick it does hurt a bit
