Bronchiectasis and pneumonia vaccine

Whilst I am in Malta, the chest consultant said that it was important that all people suffering from bronchiectasis have a pneumonia vaccine. Apparently, I should have had it in the UK.

It's a once off so I've duely had mine yesterday. Anyway, I thought that I'd post in case anyone else was like me and has never had it.

Good idea sandravale, but I think you have been misinformed. I was told it was a once only vaccine. But I had to have another 10 years later but still had Pneumonia!

There are many different straiins of pneumonia unfortunately.

Yes good idea to post about it. I had mine but I thought it lasted 10 years so will check up on that. Mandy x

I had mine and had it repeated a few years later as a blood test showed I wasn’t protected. Still had pneumonia but I realise there are different strains.
