If it was made in Britain
Then it would be the best.
Because we did things proper
And out-did all the rest.
The good old British workman
Took a pride in all he did
Could turn his hand to anything
And do as he was bid
We manufactured lots of things
And sent them round the globe
Those three words stamped upon them
Made sure that they were sold.
Made in Britain it said
Proud as proud could be
A guarantee of quality
Then sent across the sea.

Made in Britain used to be a very special mark
Quality assured, none of this seconds lark
Goods for each and every room
Kitchenette to diner
But then we went and spoilt it all
And got everything from China!
Thank you Don xxxx😘

M & S used to be proud to be made in Britain but now most of their stuff is made overseas. The prices haven't come down though... x

There was a time when every article of clothing I wore came from Marks and Spenser. (Why do the call everything by it's initials these days?) 🤔

Do you remember Bruce Forsyth’s ‘I’m backing Britain’ song? I wish we could have a buy British campaign again.

Can't we just start one, and use the power of the media to get it going?

Hidden in reply to Ergendl 5 years ago I doubt the media would be much help. They seemed happy that we now go abroad for our royal babies. 🙄

Spot on Don here in Oz everything in made in China. So many industries gone over seas even the iconic Holden car, the factorie closed recently. Sad hey.

Hidden in reply to kpm346 5 years ago Good heavens! I remember Holden cars from many many years ago. They must have done well to have kept going for so long.

Everything now is down to greed, hence the reason its so cheaply made and with that we have become a throw away society. Made in Britain used to be the best in the world, its so sad x

Another good ode, Don. What has happened to the wonderful skills we had in this country? Made in Britain meant it was good. xx Moy
