Just saying a quick hello! I am a retired nurse, now an artist and I live in Australia. I am interested in hearing about other people's challenges who have the same chronic diseases as mine. I am happy to be here and help in any way I can. I know I am in Australia, but sometimes a problem shared.....so a "Big Hi!" to all!

Hi and happy to be here!
A big HI from another Antipodean, only this time an expat Kiwi. There are a quite a few Asthmatics here amongst us although asthma is also a component of various other lung diseases. There are also a few ex-nurses too here.
Hi tiger socks, welcome to the forum. I'm sure there's a few of us will want to pick your brain (so to speak)

Hi tigersocksy! Welcome to the forum. I hope you find everyone here to be as lovely and supportive as I have. I'm too am a lifelong asthmatic just diagnosed on top of that with mild COPD (but I can't match your 49 years- I've only been around for 40)! Wherabouts in Australia are you? I used to live in Sydney. Very much looking forward to hearing about you. xx
Hi Artichokes, I'm in Geelong, Victoria with nice cold weather coming up. I was diagnosed with Asthma at 6 (but had bouts before that). You can guess how old I am then! Lol I am assuming it is more of a genetic thing than environment with me. Just learnt to deal I guess. great to be here to share all our concerns.
Hello to you. Where in Australia are you? I was there for a holiday a year ago. In Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane, sunshine coast. Loved it there.
Hi tigersocksy . Welcome! 😊 Is that your mouse? Nice to meet you. xx 🎨👋
Hi I am from Mandurah In WA not a lot of us here on this site but its quite interesting. I have Emphysema and am on oxygen though lately i only need it for Exercise and walking at the shops and if I am doing things like sweeping, hanging up washing that sort of thing. I was diagnosed in Dec 2000 and self managed with puffers etc till I got Pnumonia in 2015 and thats when I went onto oxygen. Great to meet other Aussies on here. We had a support group here in Australia but it dispanded a few years back such a shame. well welcome and hope all is well.
Hi Littlechoceclair, great to see a few Aussies on here. I was wondering. I am having a pneumoccal vax next week and have already had my flu vax. They are so worth it. Sorry to hear that pneumonia stuck you and caused the damage. Sending you all the very best!
Hi tigersocksy I am Danielle... yes I also had my pneumoccal vax and have done for 9 years and my Flu vax of course. It had no effect on it though as I was told by Drs at the time that it was Viral Pneumonia and therefore had no effect on stopping it. So we all need to be aware of that. I was stunned when they said i had Pneumonia and said No your wrong but they then dropped that on me. So I either have to accept what they told me is true or that I had something else altogether. I had numerous blood tests and Gases done and Xrays and scans etc. I was in ICU in a BiPap machine for a few days then slowly got well again. I still think it was something else and will go into that another time. I was full of fluid at the time also with legs like tree trunks and ended up with kidney failure as well. Though I wasnt put on Dialysis so I guess it wasnt too bad. They also found out I cant have Ventolin as it puts my heart into Tachycardia. Thats also another story for another day. I believe its the first local hospital where i live caused my trip to ICU by giving me 8 puffs at a time of it every couple of hours when i first went to ED with a SOB. I will continue this later as its already a short story now Ha Ha Ha Take care everyone. Drs are not always right. I have more faith in a lot of nurses Ive had dealings with than the Drs in ED
Hi tigersocksy and welcome to the site. Love the photo of the cute mouse x
Hi tigersocksy, I have COPD, and am in my 15th year with this Chronic disease. Nice to be in touch.
Hello Tigersocksy, welcome to the group! The people here are very welcoming, informative and friendly. I’m an Englishman who’s happily settled in Wales. Hope you have a good weekend 😊
Hi Tiger Socksy from Manchester, New Hampshire, USA.
Hi ex nurse with Bronchiectasis who used to work ....on Respiratory wards
Welcome tigersocksy, I am from Wollongong Australia. I have a rare disease called tracheobronchomegaly. Bronchiectasis and subglottic stenosis which I have is associated with this disease. I appreciate so much this group. And have learned a lot reading the posts. It is inspiring to see how people cope with their illness. I love the kindness and support given to so many. It is so beautiful. Best wishes from here.
