Does anyone else dread the BBQ season? I have become so sensitive to smoke that even if they have one several doors down it affects me. Lovely Easter Saturday and I have had to come in from the garden.I don't want to be a killjoy but.........😣

BBQs
You are far from alone with this. We had neighbours (somewhere) who had a Barbie last night, it must have been one of those disposable type and caused a smouldering fire that stunk our flat out. I have suffered being short of breath all day as a result. People do not and never will understand what effect their actions can have on others.
Hi
Unfortunately it’s that time of the year, if the medical profession have a lack of understanding regarding triggers, there’s little chance from you neighbours. Hopefully you may in a position where the fumes avoid you, other wise it windows closed for the day, or pray fo rain.
i Think BBQ food is highly over rated and us British chappies are pretty rubbish at both organising the fire and partially cremating perfectly good food and still serving it up uncooked,we have a lot to learn from folks from other continents when it comes to doing it properly but i will never, even with completely knackered lungs seek to deny the pleasure this strange ritual gives to other non lung challenged folk given that we rarely have decent enough weather in this country to enjoy them.I imagine that this will leave me in the minority on here but who gives a toss of a badly burnt burger .lol
Ski's and Scruff's having a burger free evening x
As I said I don't want to be a killjoy! My daughter has them on a regular basis and I am now passing on her invites! Pray for rain? NEVER!!! 😁
Must say never really bothered by them,as, there is only
one house near us that might have one,and not very often.
But however l really have problems with wood burning fires in t
the winter, and cigarette smoke at any time.
Me too! I can smell a cigarette at 100 yards!! My other daughter has a wood burner stove which looks fabulous but causes me breathing problems too.We had coal fires when I was young and recent research suggests that this could have caused lung damage too.
Yup, smoke of any kind is my arch enemy and we are surrounded by wood burners as well as barbies! Not a lot we can do although there is a growing campaign to get rid of wood burners.
Hi Aingeful,
They affect me really badly, as do wood burners etc.. I'm lucky my neighbours don't seem to have them too much, but when we go to our local beach, it can be awful. A Lot of people have the disposable variety and the smoke goes in all directions, so any benefit I get from the healthy sea air appears to be eliminated by smoke from the barbecues.
HORRIBLE!
I have a BBQ, it's a gas fired one with a lid for closing down. It's the only type of cooking that I'm any good at, I've had many years of experience using it. Why BBQ? Well it's the only way that I can host a party in my garden, it being bigger than my house. It's easier to clean up when everyone has gone, and they can bring their dogs if they want. I would never go to anyone else's BBQ unless I was sure it would smokeless, but it is possible to have lung friendly ones, of a sort.🙂
I'm with you there ...I hate BBQs too and people who burn rubbish in their gardens on a lovely sunny days ruining it for everyone else. Grrr.
