Please don’t put anything in the nebulizer that is not prescribed by your doctor. Lung medications must be sterile. Also, high salt concentrations can cause bronchospasm. Normal saline (or isotonic saline) is 0.9% and comes in nebules. Speak to your doctor if you think this will help.

I fully agree with past advice do not mix your own salt solution you must ask your GP for saline ampoules for use in the machine

9%. But do NOT mix it yourself. Get the Dr. to prescribe it or buy from Chemist in sterile containers.

stamford1234 - it is 0.9%, not 9%. The highest concentration of hypertonic saline is 7% and that can only be prescribed by a hospital consultant. A test dose has to be given in the hospital because it can cause bronchospasm.

Oops!

Thank you, everyone, kind of you to help. I've checked the nebuliser and found that a part of it is broken anyway so I won't be using it. I have made an appointment to see my doctor next week to ask his advice etc and take it from their. Thank you all again.
