Midnight rambling

No questions here, just spouting off as my friendly sciatica has me up at 2:30 in the morning. I've posted about this before. Last night was really bad. Gulping gabapentin, aspirin and using ice packs. I go back to the doctor Thursday. For once, this is not about COPD. This damn sciatica is far worse. It's a blessing that my breathing troubles are not .bad at the moment. Poor doggies are getting no walks. Hopefully doc will get to the root of the problem, because, as we all know, meds can only do so much -- or, sometimes, nothing at all. OK, that helped. Hope all of you are doing well, and I thank this lovely forum for giving me the opportunity to have a word in the middle of the night.

Hi challny I have several friends who suffered with sciatica for some time until it was discovered that it was their hip that was the problem but the pain was being deferred. Just a thought if your GP is finding it difficult to get to the bottom of it. You may need an orthopeadic specialist.

Hi, Hidden ... You make a good point. I have also wondered if it could be my hip, as hip problems seem to be as prevalent as sciatica. I've never had a medical diagnosis of this problem. I'm going to the doctor Thursday and maybe get to the bottom or this.

Hi Challny. There’s nothing worse than waking in the depth of night with relentless pain. I recall your last post so I hope the docs find a solution for you very soon so you can get back out walking on the fresh air with with your doggies. That said they must be a real comfort to you.Hope you feel better very soon and enjoy the Easter sunshine.

Hi challny

I have sciatica diagnosed as spinal stenosis. I was advised to do Pilates or yoga. I chose Pilates the aim is to strengthen your stomach muscle to help support your back. I still have a lot of pain but have an excellent instructor and it has helped with other things like my breathing etc. I find swimming gives me the best relief. I have also had a course of hydrotherapy so have exercises that I can do in the pool. I have some degeneration in my hips so was interested in what missy scarlet said. It could be helpful to get a diagnosis from your doc. You may have to pay a few visits before they will refer you for a mri scan due to the cost. Good luck it’s a miserable pain.
