Someone asked about ciprofloxacin. Lot of press reports about serious bad effects from this and other fluoroquinolones. I believe it caused my mum's neuralgia.

Ciprofloxacin
As with any medication there can be serious side affects. I was seriously Ill with pneumonia and septicemia. I was given ciprofloxacin with other antibiotics. Without it I could have died. Often infections only respond to certain antibiotics due to the nature of the bacteria. Often doctors need to balance possible benefits to risks.
Pete does well on Ciprofloxacin and he’s on it now. Everyone is different of course.
Stay well. Xxxx
Like any drug we only find out after the event. For me it put me in A and E for 2 days on a drip and the rash took 4 weeks to subside. Now I have pins and needles which is a possible long term problem with this med.
I now wear a medialert bracelet for this.
So I would guess it possibly is the cause of your mother’s problem.
Good wishes that the situation improves.
I have Cipro in my emergency pack and have taken loads of it. I never have any side effects at all. Thankfully I haven’t needed it for a few months now.
hi jillhardy4 I've been using cipro for years, low dose though with no problems at all. Unfortunately we can all react or respond differently to the various drugs on the market. If cipro is the only antibiotic your infection responds to then often taking something else to help with the side effects is the answer
