Could my dogs skin condition be making me ill? I was away from him on holiday for two weeks and was so well after a day or two. I equated this improvement in my COPD to the sun but maybe it was a little more than that. As soon as I got home, I became very breathless and tired. The weather hasn't been too bad lately so I don't think it's the cause. I could smell him as soon as I got home and could feel my chest tightening immediately. Am I imagining this and what could I do if I'm right. My husband loves this dog and would never part with it but treatments for its skin condition doesn't seem to be working for the dog or me. Help please X

Dog may be making me ill.
Hi have you been allergy tested? Also try an antihistamine to see if that helps for a few days so it builds up in your system it’s only a thought!
Darceydoo made a good comment, try those. First on my list is total Spring cleaning! Down come the curains for the laundry or dry cleaners. Vlean all the area's around and windows.Get a proffessional carpet cleaner in to do the carpets and furniture to remove the danruff. Clean all bed linens. The pet beds, launder. Clean like a mad women get your husband involved since your lungs are effected. Cover the furniture after it is cleaned, there are so very nice inexpensive throws on Amazon that are washable. Will protect that clean furniture longer and easily removed for company. Trust me I know, my dog was dieing of cancer and shed danruff and hair every where while going bald. He also had a skin condition there are many shampoo's for treatment the vet may have just not found the correct one. Frequent bathing is the key.We bathed every 3 days sometimes more ofren. The smell is on him but is directly on the carpet and furniture. Even if the dog does not get up you carry it on your clothes. Thus the covers help elimate getting it back deep in the furniture after cleaning. True this will be an expense, your husband has a dear love for his dog. I completly understand as we took all efforts until our dog final days, even if it caused some expense. I wish you well and your dog health and relief. They can also test for allergies in dogs, the test runs about $150.00. Then they can treat based on the results, many times it is in pill or liquid form. The only thing my dog was allergic to was dust mites which are every where in your house and in dog food, we had to freeze that for 3 day before giving it to him to kill any that might live in the bag. Bought dust mite wall units ulta sound to chase them out of the house. You still have many options to enjoy your home and breath in it with a dog. Worse you'll have to replace some carpet, we had planned on doing before he passed. We even had it pulled and walked on the wood floor for a time our concern was him, lay the carpet later. Although the fresh smell is amazing and a new puppy arrives April 26th!
