Advice please

I am new on here and just wondering if anyone can advise me please. I started with a chest/sinus infection end of October and still have this awful gurgling:bubbling in my upper airways or throat. It is there most of the time but more in evenings but funnily enough doesn’t wake me. I am coughing up green. I have had chest X-ray and it’s clear but it’s freaking me out I can’t get rid of this. I feel like I have to keep coughing to clear my airways. Can anyone advise or let me know if they suffer with this please?

Hi and welcome to the site, have you got tablets to loosen the phlegm bup and make it easier for you to bring it up. If not then ask your GP to prescribe you some, and ask if you can do a sputum sample, it will put your mind at rest. Try not to worry I have had the same problem as you, as I should think a lot of us have. I hope this has helped you , take care of yourself and have a good night. Please let us know how you are.😊 Bernadette xx

You are not soft fear of the unknown we all experience. And the more you ask the more the unknown becomes known and it's easier to action plan with your health care professionals.

Good luck

Please go back to your doctor and discuss with him this ongoing problem. You may need further tests.Lots of bugs can have lots of fun in our lungs and a nasal steroid spray may help your sinus.Good luck.

I echo what others say but you need to be taught the active cycle of breathing to clear your.lungs too. Anyway, don't tolerate being fobbed off. Good luck.

How do I find that out! Thanks for reply

The physio at my respiratory clinic told me. You might find it online but easier to be taught. Or see a physio privately? Maybe the asthma nurse at your practice will know. It's not complicated. Perhaps even phone the helpline for chest heart and stroke?

Hi Deezy and never hesitate to ask for some help. There is so much knowledge to tap into on this site. Ask GP for more tests and medication to help. I use a Flutter deice to help clear the airways again on prescription with most GP's. I also found a nebuliser helpful with clearing mucus.

Welcome to the site. Although many here are very knowledgeable the best opinion you can be given is by your gp for now. That is a long time for an infection to last and you must look after yourself. So book that appointment and go😊good wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi welcome to forum. If you are coughing green mucus suggest you get an early appointment to see your GP, it tends to indicate you have an infection. It may not show uo on an xray but should show itself on a scan, I think you need this before it gets any worseI had a nasty chest infection last year which turned out to be psudomonas bacterial infection which required a strong antibiotic. Something a lot stronger than the standard. It then takes a long time to clear thro' the body, months rather than weeks.

Sorry this may doom & gloom but better to be safe than sorry.

Deezy24 I am new to site and not too hot on getting about site I was refered to the local Hosp for Respiritorey 12 week course which was so informative and comforting. As I developed into the illness COPD. I was given a lot of help through the GP (Look on the pamphlet rack at surgery or Chemist) they have so much info and web sites to explore. I have a COPD spread sheet and laminIated them all and filed away until needed and follow instructions as and when. It seems you are not diagnosed as yet ? . When you are more sure you will get more help. I have mucus problem and paniky times > I am going to buy a nebuliser. Some say dont bother but my philosophy is not all ideas suit aii but you are you and anything is worth a try. I dont like being a patient at all (after Nurse career) and am learning that needs must. I will keep an eye out for you here on this site.Mags
