MrD, you will be entertaining everybody with your whit at PR, I know you will. I'm quite envious really as I can imagine you will really brighten up people's day as quite often, initially, folk are rather reserved and your whit will make the sessions such fun! Wish I was there or I'd even settle to be a fly on the wall 🐝(sorry, couldn't find a fly emoji,so bumble bee it is!!)
Seriously though, you will do just great and you will go out in your beloved campervan with trusted companions Midge & Dolly.
Well there were eight of us there and all seemed intent on avoiding eye contact from some reason or other. I did eventually get chatting an elderly chap who was telling me how old and poorly he was until it turned out he was 5 years younger than me. 😉
Oh dear! But I'm hoping you "enjoyed" your session...after all if it means you'll be fitter to get behind the wheel of your campervan and enjoy yourself doing some travels, then that's your objective MrD!! (Perhaps they all have eye problems or dare I say it,could it be you're just too handsome for them to look at,lol)
It was fine, I did enjoy it. The old British reserve dictates that you take your time in making friends. If we were dogs we’d just sniff each other’s bottoms, but it takes us humans a little longer. 😉
Hi I went to PR course 2016 after week three we was like old buddies
This one chap he was only about 59 years he came along with his girlfriend who was 20 years younger who used to join in with the exercises not sure whether she was supporting her man or showing off saying look at me how fit I am may be I was just jealous becouse she was 20 years younger and fit.
Then I thought 20 years ago I was super fit as well 😸
It was the first class and only lasted an hour and we were all busy finding out what to do, so very little interaction took place. Next Tuesday's is longer and includes 'education' so I expect there will be an opportunity to get to know each other better. 🙂 (I'll be leaving my young girlfriend at home.)
Ive done one PR class and found it great and got friendly with a lot of the people who went sadly lost track of them now but might apply for another go at it
I still have the exercise sheet and do them at home though.
That is good that you are keeping it up once you finish the course. I must try to follow your example. I’m sure we will all become friends once we have weighed each other up. 😀
Nice one Don, travel well when you are pumped up after your PR, Midge & Dolly will be Thankful to be with you. I too am planning a Trip, have to keep strong with exercise, Best way to be Dear Don, Always Positive. Love n Hugs to the 3 if you. Xxxx
January and February are my least favourite months so my PR classes are well timed. I doubt I will be straying far from home any more. Where do you plan to head?
Good Evening Don. Having come off the list after 2.5 years, I plan to see my grandchildren & grt GD plus one due next month, all are Spanish, Just had my Daughter here with Grandson, left this afternoon. I haven't been to Spain for 4 years ( I lived there for 28 years), So It will be a Huge Reunion of Family and Friends, We are planning for April/May, Lots to do re , Oxygen, Mobility, Insurance. and of course the right Flight Company. I will be keeping my eye on everyone here, I see that there are a lot of Newbies Joining our Mad Forum. They will enjoy and relish your Odes, Don. and of Course our Beloved Ski's & Scruffy Post's. Love n Hugs Don. XXXX
Master Po,i hope you were gentle with your fellow rehabers, and by this time next week when you have managed to prise them out of their lotus position's they will thank you from the bottom of their dodgy hearts.
Ski's and Scruff's xx
It's interesting to watch a group of people as they jockey for position to establish a pecking order. I tend to be an observer rather than a leader, but there's always one that thinks their place is at the front. I'm looking forward to the experience and coming out a physically fitter man. 💪😊
Hello Don. Good rhyme mate. Hope u have a good time when u go away with ur camper van. I had a replacement hip in early October and because I hadn’t been to Pulmonary rehab for a few months because I was back in hospital in early December with a blood clot on my lung, I was referred back to rehab to start another 6 weeks. I started yesterday and I am convinced that it really does u good. I have met another crowd of new people, that is on of the good things about rehab. Anyway u have fun when u go away and good luck. Best wishes.👍🤓🏋️♀️🚐
Thanks Roysieboy , I was hoping to get replacement hips to match my replaced knees which I've had for 19 years now, but had to make do with PR. It is good to meet new people which is why I'm so keen to get back to using the camper. I did a PR course five years ago when there were 15 others there. On this one there are only eight of us so we will probably get much closer. I hope things go well for you. 👍🙂
Does this mean we won't see so many of your poem's.
I have to admit I do enjoy reading them as I do a few myself.
But hope rehab goes well and you can take time away in your camper van.
This is one I wrote..... not saying your old lol.
The Vision
As I sit within my van
I see the vision of an elderly man
His hair is white his hair is paless
He looks so old, he looks so frail
I see him sitting upon the grass
Clinging so tightly to his water glass
With a glimmer passing by his eye
It looks as if he wants to cry
He looks as if he is all alone
Sitting in the garden of his home
Deep in his thoughts, loss in his eyes
Oblivious to the reality of time going by
I wish I could understand his pain
Or have the courage to ask his name
As I ponder he looks towards me
Standing up in the shade of the willow tree
And as he looks into my eye
It is me the one with a need to cry
Because as he stands beneath that tree
I know who the vision is....the visions me.
xx
Strewth! I was glad to get to that last line, I thought you'd been spying on me! That was very good. No I'm afraid there's going to be no respite, I shall keep churning my stuff out unabated. I enjoy writing you see and it's part of what keeps me plodding on. 🤷♂️😁
I live in the US, and we don't typically use the term campervan. We call them rv's.....except my 8, 6, and 6 year olds watch Peppa Pig, so they use the term camper van exclusively. They always ask if we can go in a camper van for vacation. I'm going to see if we can make that happen for our sping break.
Good luck with your PR Don ....best thing I ever did got me on my feet, then I joined the gym twice a week, meet new friends and keeps me fit (well just about😊) So best foot forward and enjoy it, you sure to be out galavanting around that beautiful Welsh country side with Midge and Dolly by your side. You can drop in for a cuppa if your ever passing through my neck of the woods on Anglesey. 👍😜
Oh I say! A cupppa in Anglesey, that's very civil of you Peg. 😊 Yes I'm hoping the PR will help me to clamber back into my faithful camper. Dolly lives in the camper and is getting very restless. Midge hates the car because she can't see out of the widow as she can in the camper. Pressure all around me. 😉
Hi Don, I was just told today by the consultant I still cannot drive my car or my Motorhome. My blood gasses àre still too high for me to drive & the doc reckons I could still loose concentration. It's been 8 months since I was away with my Moho. Ì understand I could cause a lot of damage in the van if I crashed but not my small car. Hate being static. Do you drive with oxygen?
That is tough having a Moho and car and not being able to drive. When I was a teenager 70 years ago, I used to earn a few bob driving for an elderly lady who had a car but couldn't drive. I've been thinking that if I had to hand in my licence I might consider trying to arrange something like that. No, fortunately, I'm not on oxygen yet.
It's the travelling wot keeps me going. 😉 I spend most of my time these days on this site. I am still a member of community.smallmotorhome.co... but don't post much.
I found everyone reserved and I think nervous on my first PR session Cap'n (apart from the people running it who were all lovely) however that did change over the weeks, however it is worth having a go at breaking that well known icy British reserve. After I took a sledge hammer to mine I really enjoyed the sessions and felt much fitter for just getting out and about which I am sure you will too. I have mothballed my rhyming hat for now as still a tad under the weather but hope to 'don' it again soon. Enjoy your sessions also those with that young lady friend best wishes
Forget about your rhyming hat it’s more important that you get yourself better. I don't know where ‘lady friend’ comes into it, of the two I have one is furry and the other knitted! 🧶🐶 I’m sure you are right about us all becoming friends and I feel a bit fitter after just one session. 😀
