Today I start on ambulatory oxygen and am told by the oxygen nurse that I cannot use any cream with petroleum in it. I’ve looked around the house and all my present ones contain petroleum also lip balm which I use a lot. Can anyone recommend products they can use, as an oxygen user. Thanks joanna

Petroleum free lip balm and cream
Hi,
I know burts bees lip balm has no petroleum but don't know if it's safe with oxygen. Can't your oxygen nurse suggest something? xx
Thanks wheezyof - love your name
Look on amazon for Ayr nasal gel
Hi
Speak to your pharmacy, any product with the first ingredient listed as Aqua is suitable.
Burt's bees lip balm is excellent and safe to use, I have am ulatory oxygen and use this lipbsalm all of the time. I buy mine off Amazon, I would definitely recommend it. I did check first to see if was safe to use. Hope this helps.😊 Bernadette xx
coconut oil, - pure aloe vera gel. Health food shops may be able to advise on their products.
Yes, I use lip balm made with aloe vera, beeswax, coconut oil - plenty to choose from. Ive never understood anyway why anyone would want to put what is basically a by-produce of petrol on their lips.
I have used Aveeno, which my husband was recommended for the skin under his colostomy bag. It is based on oatmeal and cleared up my sore nostril very quickly. No oil.
You may find the inside of your nose gets sore . KY jelly can be safely used or even a cheaper brand . I've used some from £1 shop which does state lubricating jelly, hope that helps
Thanks everyone. You are all really helpful. Another question though - any ideas on a runny nose caused by the oxygen - and dry mouth.
Hi, I've been using lipsalve since July 24/7. Checked the label and didn't see petroleum jelly, also checked with my pharmacy. I've not spontaneously combusted. I know it can degrade rubber but my umbilical cord hasnt rotted. Cheers Scouse
Hi Jomo46, my husband gets a runny nose too but hasn't really found a remedy for it, he finds it very frustrating. His nose runs even when he isn't using the oxygen, although only when up and about, it's fine when just sitting. Dr has given him all sorts but nothing seems to help.
