I have liquid oxygen as ambulatory oxygen. Been a few weeks now but not too sure about it at all.

Can you say which you use & what you find the best to use. Thank you

Hi PatjI have had both cylinders and liquid. Have to say personally I found the cylinders better. Don’t have to re-fill them yourself and more discreet. With cylinders you just have to plan in advance. I have 8 delivered about every 10/14 days. That’s good for about 1 hr a day on 6litres ambulatory. A liquid one you would have to refill before use. And they tend to leak. So you think you have a full one but actually 3/4 full by the time you need it.

Good luck with whatever you choose

Ive never used liquid oxygen Pat so my knowledge is limited to cylinders.

I would say the most important thing - and personally I dont care about discretion as I view myself and others who use oxygen outdoors as an oxygen warriors as people need to get educated about seeing us out in the world - is the weight you have to carry. That's if you carry it on your back which is far the most convenient for me as wheeling it along means the body has to be asymmetrical which would give me back pain.

So I have paediatric cylinders and they weigh about half what a standard adult one does and I find that weight well possible to carry whereas the adult ones I couldnt manage. I have no idea how liquid oxygen containers compare weightwise. You can ask your oxygen nurse to prescribe paedriatic cylinders and and tell her/him that this is important for you as it would enable you to do more exercise and therefore keep in better health.

Hi, I’ve had liquid and really liked the convenience when I was out and about. The flasks were light and the back pack comfortable. However this was when I didn’t require it much. As soon as my need increased I worried about the unreliability of the vapourizing and the flasks emptying. They also needed filling often. I now have cylinders for going out. They s are heavier, but totally reliable. I have a concentrator in the house. I’m now on 24 hour oxygen, so need reliability.
