A Testing Time.

Today I'll have my spiro test

To make my nurse aware.

If my lungs are strong enough

To blow her off her chair.

The printer then will chug along

Printing out my score

Whilst I am still struggling

To get up off the floor.

Once I get back home again,

With the printout in my clutch.

I'm pretty sure I'll find again

It's all in double Dutch.

Your poem and the picture made me smile. I don’t know if it’s autobiographical, but if so I hope everything goes well with your tests today. Take care of yourself 💨

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I remember once saying that not all my poems were autobiographical but can't remember the circumstances in which I said that, because very rarely are they not. Certainly this one is.

I need that’s case, I hope it all went as well as possible and you’re doing ok after all that blowing 💨

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Thank you. It's nice to know you follow my postings so closely. 🙄

Sorry Don I just got in from my crummy job.

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I was pulling your leg .I'm a bit grumpy today.

I’m glad I hadn’t offended you. No wonder you’re grumpy. What a day for you. I thought my day was bad but it had nothing on yours.

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Oh it wasn't that bad, more irritating than anything. Annoyed at myself for going to the doctors without hearing aids! I have a dog to remind me of such things. She just stands there wagging her tail when I complain to her!

Sometimes it’s not a bad thing to not be able to hear what people are saying (although perhaps your visit to the doctor was not one of those times) I’ve taken to wearing one of those woolly hats with ear covers to work, so that I can’t hear what people are saying. Or at least I can pretend I can’t hear them.

Good luck. Do you feel comfy about posting the results here? Last time I seem to remember there were some discrepancies.

“Keep going! Keep going! Keep going!” Isn’t that just the most irritating refrain in all our lives?

Love and a strike for Midge

Kate xxxx

in reply to Katinka46

I always have posted them in the past, mainly because I get more information about them from yourself and others on here than I ever do from my GP or Respiratory Nurse. The poor machine struggles to try and put a name to the problem that I have with my breathing but has a too limited vocabulary. If it could speak it would probably say "This man's complete breathing apparatus is worn out and completely knackered".

in reply to Katinka46

Midge asked me to point out that she would never go on strike. 😉😘

Doh..... careless me. I don’t suppose she wants a stroke either. Just a cuddle.

in reply to Katinka46

Ha ha! Very good, no neither of us want a stroke but a cuddle would be nice. 🐾😘

My nurse and I decided to kick the spirometer into touch as we felt it wasn't telling us something we didn't know.

Yes Don it seems many of us have to "blow, blow, blow" for the Spiro test. Mine was two days ago and I got into such a state not being able to "keep blowing, keep blowing" that the nurse looked on the computer to read I'd done one 3 weeks ago for my Respiratory Nurse at the hospital. So now she can't understand why I was there to do another one. Obviously somebody didn't think to read my notes!

That's my moan for the day!!

P.S. loved your picture and rhyme.

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

I think if they gave the NHS a similar test it would say communications 30% management 25% stage 5 critical. Back in the 80’s it was thought that computers would solve all the problems in those areas. But it seems we have the machines but not the systems analysists and programmers needed. Not profitable enough I suppose. 😟

Quite laughable really as I seem to recall an enormous figure of around £11 million spent on bringing the NHS computer systems up to scratch

......and guess what......highly paid IT executives spent all the budget and more and the entire programme was put to an early bed!! Total waste of money and nobody ever taken to task over it. Oohh,no that makes my blood boil.(sorry for the rant my friend!).

Hello there,I thought I'd pop on and see how everyone is.

Typical postie, turning up in time for his Christmas tip.You have me confused. Are you the old postie or a new expostie? 🤔

Was davethepostie but hadn't been on here for ages and it appears everything has changed and all my old posts and comments disappeared.I've had to join again.

in reply to

That’s strange because I left and came back with different name and my old stuff is still there. Whatever, I remember you so welcome back. How have you been?

Fittest I've been in years,I'm not taking any medication whatsoever, even my arthritis has eased off to manageable levels without painkillers. My latest lung test (about 6 weeks ago)showed my fev,s up from 54% to79% and my lung capacity up to 96%.My lungs are functioning normally. So either I was diagnosed wrong or this packing up the smokes really works.I also have a part time job,3 days a week.

in reply to

Unless you go to the top specialists the chances of getting a reliable diagnosis of a lung/chest complaint are are minimal. It’s how you feel that matters and you sound to be doing great. 👍😀
