I have exactly that problem with Lola. She just knows, when I take the dog towels upstairs to the bathroom and makes a run for it. I try all sorts like discreetly shoving the towels in a carrier bag to hide them when she's not looking, hum nonchalantly, pretend I'm not interested in the bathroom for a while before hoodwinking her in there and closing the door fast.

Glad I caught you SH, I’m a bit late today. It takes me longer to think ‘em up these days. I bath Midge in the kitchen sink. She doesn’t get very dirty to be honest, it’s just her doggie smell which I quite like but non-doggie peoples are not keen on. We both are fragrant when we go visiting.🙄
Poor Midge, she always gets the blame. very funny though Don.

And by the time you have struggled to get her clean you are soaked and need another shower. Here there is a van which you can book to wash and groom your dog for you ---at a price. I have a neighbour who uses this and their dog is not happy , he spends the all the time howling! Better not tell Midge this.
That would be paying a sledge hammer to crack a nutcase, she's less than 10 inches tall has short hair. I fish her out of the sink and plonk her in a bath towel and give her a good rubbing and she's dry in a very short time. Before I got so short of breath it was a doddle. 🙂
It must be therapeutic, I woke up this morning thinking my end was in sight and finish up bathing the dog! Mind you I started my rescue pack in between. 😉xxx

Poor ole Midge- your dad called you ugly-make him sleep outside tonight! Then go fetch him a mirror tell him” take a good look and tell me again who’s the ugly dog? Grrr get em Midge!
It wouldn’t be the first time. I’ve been peed on before when we were both asleep, she on my lap. I don’t know who was most shocked, Midge or me! 🙄
Our westie max hates being groomed and it’s no fun for me I’m left gasping for breath and Sunday he got so worked up he bit my husband who then spent 5 hrs in A and E .And don’t mention water to him but it would be so lovey to put his lead on and go for a walk how I miss that

Oh heck! That is totally unacceptable behaviour biting like that, what was Max doing to get that worked up with your husband? We owe it to our dogs to make sure they get plenty of exercise when we can't give the enough ourselves. If we don't they can get frustrated and behave badly. I'm not saying that's the case with Max, but something is amiss. Perhaps a word with the vet? I hope your husbands hand healed well.

Max is 9yr old and always as had a problem with grooming vet tried tablets to calm him but to no avail the mistake my other half made was trying to reason with him more or less put his hand into lions mouth . There isn’t a dog in our small village that gets walked as much as max in fact sometimes he hides when my husband puts his coat on it’s soo funny.
Don, I absolutely love your poems; funny, thoughtful, sometimes poignant, reminiscent, amusing and always entertaining. I looked up your profile to read some of your 'back-catalogue'. Brilliant! Midge is obviously well loved (even if you do force bath times on her 🐶🛁 🧼 and get medication mixed up 💊 😂)

Not all my stuff will be listed under my current profile as I left and recommenced, my early posts show me as 'hidden'. I think I'm granted a lot more leeway now (for which I am grateful) in regarding some of my posts 'naughty' rather than 'inappropriate'. 😉
Don, you bring back so many well lathered memories. Dogs I've bathed, dogs that have bathed me.
I was spoiled many years ago by my beloved Toby. A true Staffordshire, he would give me a chase through the house, end at the bathroom doorway, sigh the heaviest sigh and clamber into the tub unaided. Drying him was a treat as well. I would find my self stooping lower and lower towards the drain, as his bottom slowly rose and his heavy chest drew him downward.
They are a love and gift, thanks for the memories.
