Hi friends. My IPF has progressed to the stage I need oxygen and other aids. I have always been an outdoor type although at 76 I am not as active as before. My IPF has hung around for about 8 years but it is only in the last 15 months it has begun to be a pest. My question is this. Since we have started to get the colder weather (under about 12C) and/or the strong winds I am finding it almost impossible to venture outside and this is sending me doolally. Is this a common problem and will it improve in the Spring when the more clement weather returns, or is it a sign of a slippery slope? Also, anyone got any bright ideas for combatting this dilemma - I can't even walk up the garden to the car.

Yes this cold weather here close to the Canadian border affects my breathing every winter. It’s better in warmer weather but not to hot. The springs and summers here can get over 100 degrees.
Cover your mouth and nose with a scarf or something. Keep warm. I have the same problem, the only thing is that if you wear glasses they will steam up.
Yes, you and me together, the cold, wind and heat affects me badly. I can't breath properly and the cough gets worse. I think my good fortune is slowly coming to an end. The advice given here is good.
Take it easy and stay indoors.

I seem unusual in that with sarcoid pulmonary fibrosis, I actually find the cold weather good for my breathing. It seems to help declog the mucus. I do find though that the oxygen makes my nose drip and I have to have a big scarf round my throat and upper chest. Hot weather makes my breathing worse.
