Hi everyone, My girlfriend has been recently complaining about pains in the right side of her chest following a cold we both had about a month back... She has a awful cough and is constantly saying it’s hurting when she breaths in laughs and coughs, She was standing up and suddenly lost consciousness, she said her chest was hurting and she felt light headed.. Can pleuris cause someone to pass out if that’s what it is?? Thanks🙁

Hi

There are probably many reasons, best to consult your GP for proper diagnosis and treatment.

As doctor visits can be quite brief, it is worth organizing your thoughts and concerns before your visit. You may find the PACE prompter useful:

P: Provide information about how you feel.

A: Ask questions if you do not understand.

C: Clarify what you hear.

E: Express any concerns or worries you may have.

If she has collapsed I would take her to either the hospital or gp. Best not leave it has she got a temperature has this happened before. If in a lot of pain see someone.

Hi there. Get here checked over either by her gp or at the emergency room.

No one faints without a reason behind it. Stone -U.K. has some great advice, which actually I intend to follow,

Hope you get it resolved quickly. Don’t leave it please.

Thanks to everyone’s replies.. she doesn’t have a temperature, it’s just like the cold has left her with a nasty cough.. I’m only assuming the violent coughing could have done some damage maybe? I will keep posted on doctor diagnosis 🙂

A bad chest infection and/pleurisy could make you faint if you were very tired with it all and does she usually have fairly low blood pressure anyway?

She should be examined, she may need antibiotics I should think.

Hi,

I thought I’d write as I literally just read an article about pulmonary embolisms in the daily mail. A girl was missed by her GP, and ended up in a very bad way. One of her symptoms was breathlessness and she also passed out on more than one occasion.

I don’t want to frighten you, as this may certainly not be the case with your girlfriend, but get it checked out and raise your concerns - just to be on the safe side.

Hi please insist on a chest xray mainly to rule things out.
