Wow I don’t know the answer to that but I’m sure someone will. Did you just suddenly stop bringing up phlegm? I guess some people don’t have phlegm. It would be lovely if it’s an indication that you’re doing better.

Hi. You are not alone. I have COPD & Bronchietisis. I use oxygen 24/7 Carbosistine, Salbutamol and Spireva and take Azithromycin. I am told that I am now in final stage. I have never had any regular product to cough up.

Although at times I have had the sensation that I would like to have unblocked the tubes.

Even when on a two week Doxycycline course and a month of prednisone it is not usual for me to be able to produce a sputum sample for the path lab. The last time that my wife or I can remember that I managed to produce a specimen was during an hospitalization with pneumonia about 5 years ago.

I hope that this helps with some reassurance. Rib

Thank you. How are you? Well I hope. I have not been able to read or write for a while.

I had to have a break from using any screen. I had a bad bleed inside my remaining eye and have been fighting not to loose my remaining eye.

It has been a traumatic time but I am on the road to being discharged from the hospital at my next out patients.

All I have to do is get over this exacerbation. Probably picked up from hospital waiting room.

Sorry to hear of your ongoing battle Rib and hope your remaining eye has been saved.

Pete and I are doing well thank you.

Get well soon. Hugs to you and your wife. Xxx 😘

Hi kaffee49 .

I don't bring anything up at all. That's the nature of my disease. xx 🌿

I don't cough anything up normally. The only time is when I'm starting with a chest infection, it's a good indicator for me.

Yes, I don't usually cough up anything. Only when I have an infection.

We all change with our progression of COPD, from early stages of bringing up cupfulls, to Nothing. Carbocistiene helps by thinning the mucus, doing the "Huff" does help when there is some. at present I have a tiny amount in the throat, but not enough to spit up. As Cas says , It is the nature of the Disease...Wishing you a Great Mucus Free Sunday. xxxx

Everyone has Plegm and normally we have hair like strands in the airways that pass up the sputem to the throat and then is swallowed subconciously. Not noticeable, but with COPD that doesn't happen so we have to cough it up. I suppose it depends on different peoples airways.

This is what my nurse told me anyway.

Which disease is this post addressing? This plus the prednisolone posting/answers aren't making much sense to me as there seem to be people chipping in on both COPD and bronchiectasis when the two diseases should have differential answers (shouldn't they)?
