On Thursday morning, Mum and I are leaving for Switzerland. She will be medically assisted. It took some organising but I couldnβt leave her behind.
I am getting too old for this guys π I just want to go home and sleep.

Iβve passed the stressed stageπ
I am at the wiped out/espresso stage βοΈ π running around gathering documents, sending multiple emails, helping Mum with her last minute shopping and suitcase.
Yes Thursday canβt come soon enough and I can have a comfy nap π΄while the nurse takes over Mum!

Things have been better once she agreed to go..she became more positive..although she said she had chest pains which worried me! I had to up my pred yesterday as the stress probably affected my cortisol levels, I felt dizzy, that worked.
Anyway we met the nurse last night and we are leaving by 9 am.

Probably something that should have happened ages ago my happy friend,but Mums sense of independence and stubbornness delayed the inevitable.still means extra work and responsibility for you but hopefully the reduced travelling will make life a lot easier for you,about time you got that rest you deserve.

Oh itβs not for good, she tells me she is determined to be back home in 3 weeks! Iβll let the doctor deal with that one! π
I donβt think she quite realises how low she got, which is a good thing. Theyβll get some good Swiss food down her, she barely eats.
Then it will take at least three weeks to have shoes measured and fitted once her foot has healed.
And I need time to recover before the journey back! I have to go to Lyons for my biannual LAM checkup on the 7th and I am now planning her 91st surprise birthday on the 9th, her Paris 93 year old sister and daughter will be coming. My aunt just asked me to organise that yesterday so it will also be a time to rejoiceπ₯

Very glad your mumβs going with you. Will she live in your apartment or have her own accommodation? (Apologies if thatβs none of my business) I hope the journey goes ok anyway and you get a good rest when eventually you get back.

Wanting to go home and sleep, is just getting tired, not getting too old. It will be a great relief for you knowing that your mother will be closer by, better than having to do international travel all the time, which is always exhausting.
I like that kind down to earth comment, makes me feel better 2greys π
Hard to push yourself beyond your strength, shoulder on the feelings of others but it is part and parcel of life. Well I doubt Mum will be convinced to stay, hope the doctor is more convincing than I π she is already counting the days!!

Yes, I bet youβre tired, my friend. πΉBut this plan sounds a sensible solution, and less exhausting in the long run....hopefully..... than sorting things from afar, dashing to the South of France increasingly often and then rushing back to run your own life.

No, it doesnβt take my mind off myself at all, I have felt worse, trying to fit in nebs, respiratory physiotherapy, while Iβm running around looking for warm men socks I can cut, shoes that donβt fit in the end, filling in prescriptions, finding eatable food and drink for the journey, packing her things etc..
The nurse arrived last night and took over, it was magic!!
I will be able to enjoy my Sunday poems again π

Hi Fran, you have done so well looking after your Mum, shows what a good daughter you are, once home you need to rest up as much as you can to re-charge those batteries. You dont realise just how stressful life is just organising everything for a 90 year old, and of course the worry. Im sure once home everything will be much better and you an relax a little. Aria looks so relaxed and being a cat, doesnt have a worry in the world ha!
