Hello to all my BLF friends and hope you are all coping with this terrible heat as I'm deffinately NOT!!. I normally like the weather when it's up to 27% or there abouts but into the 30s no. I can moan for England lol. It doesn't help when you can't breath properly with a chest infection and I had to wait for it to clear up so I could have my yearly infusion over the hospital for Osteoporosis, I use to take medication Alendronic Acid but kept forgetting to take at a certain time each week, so this is the alternative which I find better as it's just once a year and then you have a bone scan to see how well it's doing . I was doing alright until I got on the bus and have to sit back to the driver in the wheelchair bay and less than a mile up the road I was sick everywhere, so you can imagine what that was like on a hot and sticky bus with passengers to match, yes the smell was lovely. When I got up to the infusion street the nurse laughed and said "I'le have to teach you how to do this as she cringed putting needle into my arm. I tried to clean myself up before going in but I got breathless and hubby started to look a darker shade of green bless him. He made me laugh on the way back as he said to the driver "don't you dare ask her to sit backwards if you know what's good for you" lol, by the time we got home I started to feel a bit better, bloody marvelous isn't it. Anyway my cat Barney sniffs me more before getting on my lap now CANT THINK WHY ! I hope you are all as well as can be expected π€πxx
Heatwave Blues: Hello to all my BLF... - Lung Conditions C...
Heatwave Blues
Do you take A acid every Monday..that's what I told to do coz if you change days that's when you will forget Stumpy put it beside your bed on Sunday night, sorry to hear your not well at the moment take care..Ger
I use to take A acid every Friday but was told it has to be same day, same time spot on every week which was difficult because I'm easily distracted so I phoned the pharmacy at one time and asked is it ok if I'm a little bit over time or under, and his remply was yes it dose matter it has to be dead on the time. Anyway now I have infusions which last about an hour and that's it for a year. Much better for me. I'm a lot better now Thankyou , I hope you are well. βοΈπxx
Do you also take Adcal daily? My husband takes Alandronic on a Monday plus Adcal daily.
No just a acid..but I really must ask for a review because my last time I was scanned 8yrs ago spine had 2 cracked vertebrae a budge in spine and curvature in spine that was put down to osteoporosis due to steroids
Oh dear not so good must have been very painful. Steroids are awful help one thing and cause so many more problems. My husband now has a cataract which is desperately needing done which Dr said has developed quicker due to steroids. He had been on steroids for some months and saw another Dr who said he should also be taking calcium tablets, thank goodness he saw her.
Oh dear Stumpy how awful for you. I canβt ride backwards either so do sympathise.
Itβs pretty warm here today but trying to keep cool.
You take care xxxx
Thanks sassy, I'm a terrible traveler, I normally take barley sugar but forgot that day plus I don't eat anything now when I visit anywhere so I don't have to use their toilets, so that didn't help. Vicious circle really. Yes try to stay cool, And take care βοΈπxx
Hi Stumpy55, I use buses a lot, there is always a lack of proper ventilation in the summer months on the buses, just a couple of "fanlights", most unpleasant when struggling to breath and no wonder you were taken ill. I do sympathise.
Air conditioning will soon have to be standard on buses if temps keep on climbing as they have this year, or the bus companies will start to lose revenue because nobody will use them in the summer months, after all with all the glass, they are just mobile greenhouses.
Thanks 2greys, your so right about poor ventilation on busses, it's awful. I've always been a bad traveler, but the heat was so stifling and traveling backward coupled with struggling to breath didn't help. People were moaning and making a fuss and my husband kept saying "look she's unwell and can't help herself" . What a day oh and to top it all 2greys I forgot to charge up my manual nebuliser so I couldn't get that to work. I hate going to the hospital, it's always a big ordeal. I hope you are keeping well and thanks for listening Bless you. βοΈπxx
Poor Stumpy.. π₯ and poor Barney! π
Same here in the 30s..
Just heard a whole thing on the news how medicines affect you more in the heatwave!
Anyway struggling too..on Salbutamol nebs, it is more effective than the inhaler although I must say I get tired inhaling the product for 10/15mn so I just had 4 puffs of my reliever instead, just now 1 puff every 60 seconds up to 10 puffs, following my action plan.
Hope I stop there but I am still breathless and my oxygen levels keep on falling back..if I have to take anymore I will be all jittery π drinking sleeptime herbal tea and honey!!! And Aria will be sniffing me π
Nighty night! Hope tomorrow is a better day πΈ
Fran xx
Hello Fran ah you poor thing, I hope you feel better soon. My goodness you are struggling a lot more than me. My nurse came yesterday and said same as you, that meds affect people differently during the hot months. I wish you well, look after yourself Fran and stay Intouch with your GP if you start to decline. God Bless you βοΈπxx
Thank you π You are very kind.
Interesting to read your nurse said it too. And I havenβt started increasing the pred yet! π
Weather forecast said it will last until middle of next week. I donβt think they know honestly.
Yes you are right I will phone in tomorrow as the weekend is coming, if I see no improvement.
Wishing you well too xx
Fran
What an experience. Sounds like you had a cat scan when you got home. My cat does that often, especially when I've visited a friend who also has a cat.
Poor you, I hope you are feeling better now xx
I am struggling with this heat to I have been on pred for weeks on advice of my doc. I have also been refferd to the royal Brompton
lejaya
Oh dear, are you using a nebuliser lejaya? I find mine a god send. Please let us know how you get on? βοΈπxx
I don't have a nebuliser but glad yours is helping you. π
Thankyou lejaya, I use it five times a day and it dose help me a lot. Could you ask your doctor about it, or have you already asked? I've been on my nebuliser for many years and got it from the hospital. πΉ
I guess I could ask my doctor about having one but I think I might wait and see what the Brompton say. I use my spacer a bit like a neb which seems to be ok for me though most of the time, I'm just struggling to stay off pred and seem to be needing it for longer etc
lejaya
ps thank you for the advice
Oh dear! What a day for you - and in this heat too! Bet you were glad to get back home. xx Moy
Yes you could say that MoyB. I find going to the hospital very stressful anyway but more so this last time. Mind you, I'm getting a lot of my care at home now with my GP and nurses so my visits to the hospital are few and far between, just going to the eye clinic every six to eight weeks and to infusion suit once a year and occasional scans, so I shouldn't really complain. I hope you are keeping well? βοΈπ xxx
My chest is pretty good at the moment, thanks. Just the vertigo that gets in the way of things but that's eased off a bit - not so severe- so I'm thankful for that. Glad you don't have to go to the hospital too often. You're definitely a forward facing passenger in future! xx
Poor you, sounds dreadful, hope the heatwave doesn't last as long. I like it between 20 and 25, higher is just uncomfortable.πππ
Stumpy you worry about me with a little sickness and you are painting the inside of buses with your discomfort, you are so unselfish and such a positive lady that when i am back to full health i will personally extract the sun from your neck of the woods, take it back oop north and Barney can have a holiday with Scruffy and you can rest in de humidified comfort with your fan mr dyson..........love Ski's and Scruffy xx
What can I say Skis, but Thankyou my friend. I will take you up on your breath taking offer. Well my husband went out today to get a demidafier and couldn't get one anywhere, but all is not lost we ordered one on EBay. I look forward to cooler times ahead. I do hope you are feeling better today dear Skis, sending you and scruff lots of love from me and Barney. ππxx
So much support to you. May the cooling breezes arrive soon. And hubby with 'darker shade of green?" Sounds like the title of a John D. Macdonald mystery.
The memories, like smiles, just pop out and get shared with all around.
