Hi

Plenty of reading.

healthunlocked.com/search/s...

Probably more suitable if you are more bronchi as salt is a natural lubricant.

My husband uses a salt pipe and finds it very beneficial. He was initially diagnosed with COPD but after numerous chest infections was sent for a CT scan which revealed it was IPF. He also goes to a Salt Cave, there are several over the country and he finds it very relaxing and helps with the breathing and getting phlegm up. There are lots of people with COPD who go to the one here. Hope you find one and give it a try.

2manycigs - why are you thinking of a salt pipe? What benefit do you think it will give?

After reading about them it says the salt has antibacterial benefits and having lots of chest infections thought it might help

2manycigs If you are suffering anything is worth a try and it's not going to do you any harm.

Some members on this forum have tried salt pipes, try a post to BLF nurses they may be able to remember who's tried this treatment, it does appear to help some.

Didn’t help me at all, but if it helps some folk it’s worth a try. Had a Brochoscopy recently as my chest is infected as soon as I finish a course of antibiotics and the long term antibiotics haven’t worked! Hoping they will isolate a fungal infection in the lab as we have lived in wood for 30yrs and until I could no longer walk far, I walked dogs in it every day!

I was offered a course of physio but it’s early morning, when my chest is at it’s worse plus it’s a 45 minute drive, but now I am going to ask if I can do it as it has helped many of you, so thanks! I am on supplementary oxygen and walking is becoming so difficult, but I still enjoy what I can when I can.
