Hi, I don't know anything about the saltpipe, but have bee using a Powerbreathe Classic for a week now. The Powerbreath is designed to strengthen the muscles used in breathing and I have noticed a slight difference already, although this could be wishful thinking! The Powerbreath comes in a version that is available on prescription. Libbt

Hello raiz, I have been using a powerbreathe for a couple of years and it is good, does strengthen the breathing muscles as libby mentions. I also have a saltpipe but don't notice any difference after using it which is odd, because when I use saline in my nebuliser there is a big improvement, mainly because the saline removes secretions more easily.

Love your staffie pic, my daughter is heartbroken after loosing hers, he looked identical and was so faithful, we all miss him.

Hi, My husband has used both. The powerbreathe definitely helped him - but he doesn't use it now. I think it helped him but I dont think he found the benefits particularly great. He found that excercising through pulmonary rehab was fantastic and never went back to the powerbreath. He also has a saltpipe and didn't like using it. In theory it has to be good and a friend of mine took her son to the saltmines in Turkey (or somewhere!!) when his asthma was bad and that really helped - working on that evidence I was convinced it would be very beneficial but my husband really didn't feel it was very useful - I just wonder if he should have perserved for a little longer? Good Luck. It is all very personal finding the thing that works for you. TAD x x

Thank you Tad for your reply, i totally agree what works for one doesn't another the mucodyne capsules do nothing for me, so it's trying to find something to loosen thing's up, thank you again enjoy the rest of your day Lynne xx

Hi just found out about you all and hoping to learn how to control my lung problem. I have used the salt pipe but don,t get much relief from it i have pulmonary fibrosis and was diagnosed 2 years ago although i have suffered from shortness of breath for years but put it down to smoking which i hasten to add i,m an ex smoker for 5 years now. I am hoping to pick up some tips from this site.
