Hi all you wonderful people

Just thought I would drop a note again.

Well it appears I spoke too soon about the benefits of being out of the sand :)

The City is surrounded by petroleum plant and usually not a problem but over the last few days it has been very different. The place has had two big fires over the last week (Not on the plants but in buildings)

This has caused a massive amount of smoke to be thrown up into the air and guess what:) I have a major cough shortness of breath and a complete lack of energy. Not having meds has compounded the problem but I have finally managed to find a doctor. Not sure what type of doctor but will see this afternoon.

I think I have another bought of pneumonia or the bronchitis has flared again. They say that they will get my meds but I seriously doubt it as none of the pharmacies have even heard of ANORO or another one I thought of trying called TRELEGY. I have found someone who can get Spiriva but I suppose I will see what they can sort out.

Generally the places has gone down in my estimation over the last few weeks, it is very 3rd world and probably the most boring place I have worked so far.

Anyway the picture shows the smoke from last night's problem at first I thought it was mist but the smell was horrendous;)

Keep well and enjoy the summer

Andrew

As you both say looking to get out as soon as possible. it appears that my initial thoughts about here were very wrong maybe just being able to get away from the sand clouded my judgement. Initially I did feel much better but the situation here is almost as bad for different reasons- and the best isn't helping either - 40+ but with humidity on top isn't good:)

Thinking of you Andy. Xx

Hi Andy. For your health’s sake on so many levels you need to get out of there now. The company should already have got you out ( unless you work for yourself). There are other jobs but you only have one set of lungs. In this atmosphere and without the drugs you need it could be disastrous for you. Thinking about you.

I agree but the company has its problems as well - you can put a western name on company paper but it still doesn't mean that much when the people are local:)

When I see the doctor I will then have a better idea but the bottom line is out ASAP.

in reply toandyrrc

Good luck but don't rely on other people, UK or local to make decisions which affect your health. When you do what you need to it always works out. I ran across tarmac pregnant with a 3 year old to escape Beirut in 1975.A terrible wrench at the time leaving everything behind. We're all still here and doing well.

Yes - we all have to make choices that are hard and difficult and I totally agree make choices that are the best for and yours. I have no expectation from the company and have told HR that i know if i want something doing i will have to do ot myself. So just wondering where to try next:) there is an opening in Sakhalin and another in Alaska. LOL

Lots of nice wild life in Alaska and US medical facilities.

Morning Andy, I wondered how you were getting on. It must be very worrying not being able to get your meds especially as it sounds as if you're far from well at the moment. I can only echo what others have said - pack your bags and off to Alaska while you've got the strength to do it. Do take care of yourself, Sheila xx

Yes, the only way is out, Andy....it will take weeks at least to clear all that pollution, your lungs won’t cope.

What about a few weeks R&R back in the Llangollen hills....?? Good luck, Penny

Oh dear what a quandary. It looks awful and for your sake a move to a better climate would help you. The problem is can you do it? Can you see your MO and get the meds that you need. Can your bosses be generous and compassionate to you.? All I can say is never give up, do your best. Good luck.

Along with others, I say seek a transfer. These conditions are bound to affect your health and the added stress of the situation is going to make your breathing worse as well, especially with not having your meds.

As time passes you are going to have to get to grips with the fact that you are going to need a change of employment. I would start to at least think about your options, whilst you still have time, before it becomes really urgent and you make a wrong decision in haste, or worse become unemployed. Unfortunately it is the nature of having a chronic disease, it will get worse over time and perhaps you should be taking it into consideration with view to your future.

Good day Andy, I agree with the others, take steps forthright to get out of Kazakhstan now. As to your meds, please do this : call these two suppliers and get their prices for your requisite medication. I believe you will be most pleased with the availability and cost. 1) Canadian Medstore. And 2) All Day Chemist. Many of us in the U.S. and worldwide use one of these providers for some or all of our medications. Please do this. Absolutely best wishes to you, judg69

Good to hear from you again, Andy. Just sorry you're having such a rough time. Hope your doctor is able to help you despite the nature of the place.

Andy my God you are also without Meds Omg I am Canadian l can in all honesty when my husband said we have to go to Alaska kid lol but seriously l didnt like this at All ..But as it turned out that move for those years were the best thing to ever happen to my Lungs seriously l could actually breath all that clean crisp air Yes its cold but Canada is also very cold thee other issue was my meds as Americans unfortunately pay for everything .But my Docs sent me all my Meds and l travelled every 3 months for my scans if that were to ever happen again meaning hubbys transfer l would go back in a Flash lm telling you Andy l was never heathier in my Life all around after a few weeks no longer needed my spirva or any inhalers for that matter and as l said my Lung Cancer stopped growing and has never started back up so in God willing l will remain the same l feel spectacular so Andy take the leap and you will find out besides the beauty of Alaska no pollution you can breath deep my friend . dont hesitate Andy go my friend. I will help you navigate and get your meds from Canada on your way Mate Cheers Jennicare xoxo
