Hi. I have recently got a copy of my GP breathing test results and was struggling to understand some of the terms used. The one I did understand was my lung age, 87!!!! I was horrified. Ive tried using Google to see if I can make any sense of the other numbers but cannot find anything. Any help to interpret it would be appreciated. Thankyou

Singing exercises will also help you get the best out of what you have got. And ask to be referred to Pulmonary Rehab, which will also help you get the best out of your condition. All the best, M.
Hi Festie,
I found this @ 'NetDoctor':
"The test also predicts your 'lung age', which helps illustrate how healthy your lungs are and flag up any potential problems.
"Your lung age is a good tool to help patients understand the extent to which their lungs have been effected by external factors such as smoking. It is important to remember that the number is an indicator and is not telling you that your lungs are actually that age, but rather that their performance is equivalent to someone of that age. When it comes to diagnosis we take into account many more values than what the lung age incorporates."
It's a specific number crunch to alarm if you ask me, so christina1947 is right, ignore it, but understand what they're trying to tell you! Nothing in monitoring lung health is a 'constant' in my opinion, a lesson learned since joining this forum, so following the sound advice that abounds here will definitely assist in reversing the measured negatives
My lung age is 148, it was 90 when I was 30 years old, so by my reckoning that is a slight improvement. Easy to say, but try not to worry, my gp said it is how you feel that matters, and on a good day I only feel 100. Seriously though, this forum is great, lots of helpful friendly folk who will help your day go round with a smile .
Thanks Suekee. It's great to have a place to go where you can talk to people experiencing the same thing as you and to share information and tips. Wish my GP or nurse had advised me to come on here years ago!!
Try not to worry too much, mine once came in as age 108yrs!
As others have said pay more attention to FEV1
Good luck...
Hello Festie .
Oh, it is a shock isn't it? 😑 I was forty when they have me tests results saying my lung age was 95. It's is scary , but just focus on keeping yourself as healthy as possible. Dwelling too much on numbers can be very tiring and at times depressing. The important thing is caring for you and keeping active and eating healthy. After awhile numbers become, well, just that. Numbers.
Take care.

My FEV1 is 86 and my lung age is 72
