Pip is awarded for how you condition affects you as you cant walk far i would think you are elagble for pips at some level. However i think you should ring the blf help line they will know alot more than me

Hi Bertie, there is a great website called “benefits & work” . This site has helped so many people in their fight for PIP. It is hard to know what they are looking for without getting help. From what you say you should get it, but by spending £15 and joining B&W website they explain it question by question. Good luck with it all.

Yes, I joined the site, and think it's worth every penny.

I do not think i could have got through the whole PIP saga without B&W website. It was two years of mega stress, add to that the diagnosis i had been given of COPD i needed help. All i got from the DHSS was stress, i used to dread their envelopes coming through the door. It still upsets me now when i think back to what they put me through. The fact that they are doing the same to thousands of others is no comfort. I used to look at their forms and think - if i am struggling, and i can read and write and fairly capable - what about people who struggle with these things, cannot read or write very well, who helps them? Or do theygive up?

The way the legislation is enacted is like a bullies' charter.

I'm not sure how you'd contact them but a welfare rights officer could help you with your application. Maybe someone on the BLF helpline could tell you how to make contact. My son is disabled and his social worker contacted one on his behalf - his application form was filled in for him and he was awarded PIP.

I'm also on oxygen and I scored the full points needed on just 1 question to get enhanced mobility as cud not walk more than so far unaided sorry I forgot how far exactly I also scored the required amount of points needed between a few questions on the daily living which I was also awarded enhanced as there are 2 parts ..you can be awarded 1 without the other or get both there are only 2 levels which are standard or enhanced ..if u Google pip u can see what points are awarded for each question ...pip is also not means tested so u can work and claim pip and it would not affect you ..goodluck

Remember as oxygen is classed as a Drug (Medicine) it would that mean that if you cant do an activity without Oxygen, you would it be classed as unable to do the activity reliably or safely, as in, for example, the walking distance as you cannot walk the 20 mtrs without it due to exercise desaturation and breathlessness.

Hi Bertie, I am on the highest pip and have been for a while.I am on oxygen 24/7 and can only walk very short distances. I filled my forms in and was given pip for 3 years then I presume the process starts again.

Hope this helps.

👍😘
