after a long wait my Husband finally got his hip replacement towards end of Jan. They ended up putting him to sleep because they couldnt get epidural in. I got a call , op went well until end, couldnt bring him round. transferred to ICU, they asked me if he had sleep apnea or smoked cannabis! Neither!.they brought him round next day, lungs full of what looked like water. 3 days icu, 5 days on ward and then home. Hip healed well but he remained breathless. I went to GP with him March because he wanted to get back to work (part time) but said breathless,she listened to his back and said something on left lung. Xray showed fluid and infection, anti biot (amoxycillin) did nothing. May 2nd courseantio biot, feels better but tired. Sats still 92% to 95%, no pain, no cough. He is ex smoker , referred him in may for spirometry?. Went, nurse was ex ICU nurse and didnt want to do the test. She said she has seen this before and reluctant to diagnose Copd , said time to improve. Gave him braltus? inhaler for 8 wks. He clears his throat a bit. GP referred for chest physio and to respiratory specialist? anyone had anything simiilar?

Your husband has been through the mill a bit but thankfully he's been referred to a respiratory specialist. Sorry I can't offer much help but I wish you both well. Sheila x
