Hello Aldo311. People with asthma don’t necessarily develop bronchiectasis. As you have no symptoms that is a good sign. If you start getting frequent chest infections which you have not been used to having, make sure that you get that checked out. Stay well.

I have bronchiectasis, asthma and copd and have been lucky to not have any infections since November. My last spirometry test however has shown that I am more copd than asthma now.. Even though I have got bronchiectasis it seems to have been brushed to the side and not mentioned and just concentrating on my copd. Xx

Hi. I have slight bronchiestasis and asthma. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. My lung condition hasn’t deteriorated over that time. I do get bad bouts of illness from time to time but have been ok since last September which was a bad one. I now take vitamin b complex and turmeric. Maybe that has helped too.

I've had asthma over 40 years since late twenties. Very bad at start but mostly well controlled since. Started getting frequent chest infections a few years back but a daily chlarythromicin tablet has sorted that. Keep on top of your asthma and enjoy life.

Aldo311 - please try not to worry about this. Nobody can say what is going to happen in the future. Some people with severe asthma do go on to develop bronchiectasis but that doesn't mean that you will. You should concentrate on keeping yourself as healthy as possible. Learn all you can about managing your asthma and keeping it under control. This means complying with medication, particularly the steroid preventers. If you feel an infection coming on, see the doctor immediately.
