I can't believe I've gone nearly 4 months without a chest infection! After two years of monthly infections it's amazing.

I had an infection in early Feb and also had a urine infection, so the doctor put me on an antibiotic I hadn't had before as she said it would sort both infections out. It certainly did and I've been infection free ever since.

It makes me wonder if I could have got rid of the infection a lot sooner as have only been on Amoxicillin and Doxicycline before.

Anyway, I'm still good so am really chuffed! Just wanted to share. xx Moy

Thank you. It's made such a difference. We had a week's holiday recently and I was able to walk about (slowly) and even did some hills and staircases. I didn't have the breath for that while I was having so many infections, including pneumonia. I really feel as though I've turned a corner.

Now all I need is to get the vertigo under control! But that's a different story.

Hope you have got over your fatigue from your recent treatments.

All done and dusted Oncologist appointment this morning slight inflammation has now shown up making breathing a little harder and been given a course of steroids for it, I just carried the loaded shopping trolley up my three flights of stairs without stopping, so it can't be that bad. My Xray was clear too, no damage done.

That's fantastic! I know how you feel, I've had constant infections for 9 months, been on antibiotics nearly the whole time and I've now got through about 6 weeks without an infection. It feels amazing doesn't it! So pleased for you, it must have been an awful 2 years xx

That is great.I understand if you use a tablespoon on apple cider vinegar a tablespoon of honey and add hot water it too will keep bugs away!

Good news moyb, so pleased you are feeling better, onwards and upwards. The hospital gave me exercises for vertigo (well labryinthitus) which took a while but did help. X

I haven't been given exercises. I don't know if they would help. My vertigo is due to Menieres Disease which I've had for many years. I had very bad vertigo, then went for fifteen years with none before it came back three years ago. It seems to be the pattern of the disease. I'm just hoping it will go away again like it did before! Thanks for your post - I'll look into the exercise thing. xx Moy

The exercises were to move the tiny crystals that sometimes get caught in your inner ear which caused me terrible sickness and dizziness. I now take betahistine if I feel it coming on a d dk my exerises. Wish you well x

Ah, yes - I've heard of that. I don't know if it would help me or not as the vertigo is thought to be caused by moisture in the inner ear, rather than crystals. I take a diuretic for it and also have betahistine. I'm better than I was this time last year, but it's all very unpredictable and a bit of a nuisance as I'm sure you'll agree.

I will ask my GP if he thinks the exercises would help. You never know, do you?

I had vertigo for ages, dizziness and couldn't turn head round without everything spinning and sometimes not being able to walk a straight line then the consultant performed the Epley Manoeuvre which only takes minutes (holding head in certain positions). Cured immediately and never returned. My condition happened straight after a flight and, like Izb1 think it was something to do with crystals. Just wondered if this could help you in any way even though a bit different to your problem.

Thank you. I have heard of this and will ask the doctor if he thinks it could help me. Just because I have Menieres doesn't mean I don't have crystals too, I suppose.

Maybe controversial but I have been chest infection free for 18 months. I use a salt pipe and visit the salt caves in Bexley Heath every 3 to 4 weeks. It works for me. So no steroids and no Antibiotics for all that time and I am at stage 3. I know it’s not a cure but if it slows down the progression by using these methods, then I’m happy.

Yes, the salt caves seem to really help some people and I'm glad they work for you. It's got to be better than relying on medication all the time, hasn't it? Do you have a salt lamp too? xx Moy

I recently got a salt pipe and puff away daily for about 30 mins . Haven't been to a lot cave though would love to. I have had salt lamps but am wary of them as they attract water and as we know electricity and water don't mix!! Does that happen with your lamps?
