My bladder cancer has come back again and on Wednesday the 6th of this mth (June) I have to go and have another TURBT in which they have to put me to sleep but after just having another lung function test last week my results being now only 25% I am really scared has anyone else had surgery whilst only having 25% lung function?

" Hello to you copd1969.. I personally haven't had surgery with lung function so low. But if it' any comfort to you. A very good friend of mine had surgery with lung function so low. They told her they wouldn' any unnecessary risks on her. Which did offer her some reassurance. And her went really well for her.." I have lite a candle for you copd1969".. Keep posative.. And please let us know how you get on. Please don't get over thinking..xx Megan... "
Just want to wish you well with your operation and you will be well looked after. Xxxx
Hi,
A friend of mine quite poorly with COPD had an operation on his prostrate, that they did by epidural. He said the surgeons were talking to him all the way through the op, he said he felt no pain except some pressure when they were scrapping his prostrate. He was out of hospital the following day and had no problems afterwards.
It would only present a problem if your op was on your lungs. It isn't, so you will be fine.
Hello copd1967, sorry to hear about your bladder cancer returning, but the aneasnatist will be made aware of what's right for you and will act accordingly with the surgeon, and it's got to be dealt with asap, so try to relax and put your faith in them, that's my advice. It's easy to give advice but I would practice what I preach. Take care of yourself and please let us know how you get on my friend? ✋️😉xx
Hi Stumpy55
I was hoping to hear from you I will leave it up to the surgeons as i have no other choice thank you for your advice and i will let you know how it all goes (hopefully) x
My husband also has Bladder Cancer he also has copd and lung cancer. He has been told that any further Turbts needed will be done with a spinal block. He also has skin cancer and had to have his ear removed last year this was done under local as they would not give him a general. I am sure they will find a way for you good luck with the Turbt.
Wishing you all the best, I hope all goes well. Try not to worry, I'm sure the Drs are aware of you lung problem and have it all in hand. Do let us know how you get on. Xxxx
My hubby also has bladder cancer. He has had TURBT with spinal block and it went fine. If you have to go into the hospital for a pre-op appointment they should go all through the options with you. Even put hubby through all the bike tests as they were planning an RC. All the best. X
Hope everything goes well for you 🌷🌸🌹🌼x
Hi-- I joined this site because I was an advocate for my mom, and always looking for information. My mom only had 20% lung function, and had several surgical procedures done. There is always an anesthesia risk, even in healthy patients. I think doctors look at the risk/benefit analysis, it is all weighted. I would not worry too much. Good luck.
WOW what an amazing mother i hope she is proud of herself as she has made me feel alot stronger thank you both GLITZY75 x
We are all thinking of you and lighting candles so you will be out the other side of this and pleased with yourself. Xxx
