i received two letters today from our charming post person,he/she loves to fold them almost in origami fashion and occasionally tear of the corners before thrusting them through my door like a person possessed,my letter box gets some fair abuse from these people.
The first was from the Academy of performing arts congratulating me on my performance as a breathless 'Quasimodo' whilst performing for 'Esmeralda' from the dept of work and pensions during my recent assessment. They do not award Oscars for non equity acting members but as compensation the second letter advised that i have been awarded the enhanced rate of daily living allowance due to my inability amongst other things to wash myself properly or visit the bathroom without difficulty and also the enhanced rate of mobility allowance given that i am dependant on state sponsored oxygen to traverse the planet. I am delighted and somewhat richer by far so i will settle for not having a golden statue.
Scruffy shall dine on lobster bisque and i shall enjoy the fruits of my labour in some other manner equally frivolous. i should in theory now be able to swap this mobility allowance for new wheels, maintained and taxed and insured by the state so this is better than Chelsea winning the premiership title(almost).
Throughout the entire process i have tried to be honest and although i made fun about the assessment i feel that the assessor,on this occasion has been very fair and i only wish that others had received the same standard of service and been so fortunate.
Hoping all is well with my dear dodgy lung site friends.

Ah Skis why would they ever doubt you?? Of course you got a fair result, and I'm so pleased you did, as it will make a big difference and was much needed. Now...where will you be dining tonight...the Ritz? π I'll share the lobster with you...π xx
Well my little diminutive friend,as we are both quite tiny and down to earth people we shall just have the menu del dia at the local restaurant, that happens to be in Barcelona so pack yours and the munchkins bags and i will pick you all up on the way to the airport....Ski's and a cat with a passport xx
Por Favor Puedo passar Barcelona contigo y Anne tambien, me agusta Langostino mucho.
Great News Skis Y Scruffita, I also received the Enhanced Mobility, stayed with the Standard Living one. Travel well Amigo , hasta luego . Abrazos y Besos a ti y Scruffita. xxxx
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! I knew Scruff would pull it off for you. Buy yourself a little camper van, Grasshopper, and the world will be our lobster. ππ
Scruffy is not daft, she gets upgraded from Felix doubly delicious to Gourmet chefs collection in gravy, she knows what side her tuna is buttered on.thanks Lil xx
Good newsπ»
Very funny picture π
Glad β· and πΎ are getting mobile in this day and age..Are you going to have a πso you can whizz up and down the Manchester streets??
Thank you my happy friend Fran,i can't compete with your little pictures but my rocket is to get me out of Manchester with luck maybe a trip to Switzerland is in the offing and Scruffy and Aria can be best of friends too xx
Carole, thank you,i would have liked both but Chelsea will have to settle for the standard payment whilst they languish in the Uefa cup.hoping you and Pete are doing well. xx:)...Ski's and the lucky cat
We'll done, with minimal fuss. You can now afford to buy shares in me myself and then I can go on an extended holiday too, hang gliding and bunjee jumping here I come.
Done the hang gliding mate, crashed a few gliders already.flying is easy its dragging the thing up a hill that is hard work, bunjee i haven't done yet, would you dangle of a bridge with somebody else's braces on?might invest in your shares though, cheap labour force that works all hours with no lungs,a bargain i would say and a good investment ,lol
Well without embarrassing ourselves with the poor, very poor CFC efforts this season.....excellent result my friend but only because it is totally deserved and correct. Question: Does Scruffy travel well in a car?
Squirrels,we are still in the FA cup final so something to look forward to.Scruffy is a bit of a home cat but i am sure she will acclimatise to a larger vehicle, she doesn't think my little Smart car is at all clever and purrs for something more spacious.thank you for your kind words.:)x
That's fantastic news and you get it all backdated from the date you made the phone call so you have a hefty chunk coming my friend ...it is thoroughly needed as you do struggle but it all adds up as it takes weeks sometimes couple of months and I know it really helped me when it all got backdated as I had struggled for so long financially as I couldn't work ..so we both celebrating as I'm finally free and at last out of hospital today yippee π.Did scruffy put her order in for a new gold plated carrier case so she can be your driving companion ? Well done πmel x
Thank you Mel and welcome home from your temple of pain,Scruffy needs a blooming good hair cut before she will be allowed near car upholstery, wedge of dosh already banked as backdated to january, have to decide on car bearing in mind i may need a wheelchair in the future, just not sure what to get yet.apart from Cecilia.s motability wav we have never had a new car.....Ski's and hairy Scruff's xx
Yes me neither but mine is sat in Ford's as it was ready the day I went into hospital and yesterday I rang to arrange collection for possibly today or the next day and he kindly informed me it was going to be in 2 weeks as he was going on his hols and there was no one qualified to do the exchange ... Now you can imagine my reaction as it's sat there ready hoist fitted for my scooter and I lied and said 2 weeks is fine .. I did then realise it's not fine as I need to get out as been stuck indoors for 15 months so to cut it short I collect it Thurs my 1st ever car new ... the 1 we have my partner drove as although it was for me only he drove I drove it after a year of him we take that back thurs..so think of me Thurs when I drive out I can't flipping wait .. ..I feel the cost is well worth it as your covered for everything well mostly ...Do you own a blue badge yet as they really help ..Can I just advise that if you do think in the future you may need a scooter order a car with a hoist now as it's roughly Β£190 if you order when ordering your car .Otherwise if you needed 1 before your 3 years is up on your car it's Β£1200 not that I'm saying you will need 1 but look how quickly I went from ok to not at all ..bet you can't wait to go car searching..βΊπ
good luck on pick up day, drive safely lol.we had a WAV peugeot horizon when Cecilia was alive which although quite hard work for me was obviously designed for the purpose,i could get something similar bit it's a bit ott currently.difficult pragmatic decisions to be made and i may well argue myself into getting a sport model instead.what the hell you only live once lol :)xx
I'm so pleased to hear your news, it will be great not to have to think too much about whether you can afford things, you'll be able to treat yourself more often, which is great for keeping the spirits up. Definitely go for the sport model, much more fun to zoom about in!
thank you Hanne, yes fun should rule over sensibility,we are after all only here once, but if someone can prove me wrong i will give them my allowances in a flash. xx
Thank you megs from across the pond,my friend mr melley tells me you folks are enjoying some warm.fine and sunny weather in your parts, though probably far to warm for madame Scruffy xx
Thank you my dear Cas,i was just explaining to a good friend that without Cecilia here it seems like a hollow victory, but it is a victory all the same.i am glad to see that you appear to be in better mind and health than quite recently,i always think of you and your dogged determination to get the best out of life, love .........Ski's and Scruff's xx
I understand Skis. But I am certain your dear Cecilia is celebrating this fantastic result right there with you. *Hug* I have been doing a lot better these past few days and despite everything, I feel hopeful. Lots of love to you and dear Scruffs. xx πππΎ
Good things for good people (and even some bad), and I am quite pleased. You are more than deserving, and it is well past its due, but we will accept. Barcelona will be best with a pet carrier and food taster, so address enclosed; awaiting first class tix.
there was mention in the daily living component that i lacked an international food taster mr melley and in the mobility section of Scruffy's need for ambulation.consider the post now yours, the dwp mini bus is en route to North Carolina as i type.
Congratulations on your success. If you fancy a trip further afield you and Scruffy cat are most welcome to visit us in Switzerland. In fact if you fancy transporting my husband home in your camper van it would solve my problems and be much appreciated !!!
Thank you Corin, you have been so long in Switzerland i imagine you and hubby both have dual nationality by now.we will certainly endeavour to collect you both on the return journey and transport to your rightful home, plenty of room for 2 stranded folk and some oxygen cylinders.take care and better luck soon my dear, x
So glad you got the enhanced mobility rate, should make a big difference. Having aid that I have to say I am very jealous, being as I am ancient I can't claim mobility allowance, it seems that at my age (76) I don't need to go out, but if I do, I have somehow drag my poor old bones half a mile to the bus stop, and as I have trouble getting to the bathroom, can't see me getting out any time soon π oh well, not to worry, it is what is.
I hope Scruffy enjoys his lobster, and I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to spend your new found wealth on, but please make sure it is something very, very frivolous ππ
Christina, the system is so unfair as you say,i made it by just 3 months otherwise i would have been past the dwp's sell by date to.if you live anywhere near us Scruff's and i would be happy to pick you up and and take you out for lunch or frivolous treats.thank you for your kind comments,, x
I really love it when someone manages to screw some dosh out of the miserly government, does my heart good ππ I live in Yorkshire and I am hoping to get out soon because a very kind gentleman has given me a mobility scooter which needs checking out and and a new battery, then look out people here comes supergran π π
I don't think it would reach Lancashire from my part of Yorkshire, near Leeds & Bradford airport, but I am looking forward to going to Morrisons, I never thought I would ever say those words ππ
i have flown many times from leeds-bradford airport and our favourite chinese takeaway was in Yeadon and if i remember correctly there is a morrisons there to?small world Christina,i do hope you get mobile soon...Ski's and Scruff's
Yes you right we have a Morrisons. I'll be sure to let you know when I don my helmet, leather pants π and gauntlets and go whizzing up the road and the 12 miles an hour πππ
So pleased it all went well with you and you are now getting your just desserts lol .It helps that you have a wicked sense of humour ,don't ever lose that .No swanning off to the Carribbean now our are loaded .Cat , enjoy our bisque but if you are nothing like me you won't .Take care of yourself .I've Babs β€οΈ xxx
Babs, thank you, what i have gained financially will be overshadowed by your new lease of life in a few weeks time when you become super valve lady and have the capacity to blow out birthday cake candles for fun.Scruffs sends her love and will settle for sardines as she knows her true status... xx
I'm not having the valves I'm having half my lung cut away ,but no matter I hope to be able to go out in the winter , climb mountains , run a marathon , .......well go out in the winter will suffice lol .I will keep you all updated as to how it goes .Thanks again .Love Babs xxβ€οΈ
Iv'e forgotten more than i can remember, did some time in Dortmund many years ago not a good place for a young man unless you were into beer, sport and late nights, but then again weren't we all.lol xx... Ski's
I loved reading your post this morning (my e mail comes in late) the humour from one and all made me laugh and so pleased for you skischool Im sure it is well deserved. Irene x
Thank you Dan.if you will excuse an awful pun on your name but i would say 'Donut' ever believe that there isn't something in life to make you laugh...
Excellent news. The extra cash will make such a difference to you and Scruffy. So pleased that you got a sensible assessor and did not have to go through the hassle of appeals.
Stumpy, even nicer for me to hear from my limb challenged happy chum who always lifts me up with her humour and joie de vivre, probably spelled it wrong lol xx Ski's and Scruff's
Lolll.so funny! N very well done. I hate having these assessments. Feels like I'm lieing, although, of cause I'm not. N yes, do have a new Car. I can't pass the b----y, test, because the Nerves cause a panic n in turn the asthma to play up. Ahh..Well shankses Pony for me, until i give in a get a mobility Scooter. πππ»π»
thank you Dubba, you must give in and get a scooter,in the fine weather you will really enjoy the freedom it gives you and keep up with the swimming that you enjoy...best wishes Ski's and Scruffs x
I might well do that Ski,s. As if i go a little walk, I'm a bit scared i wont make it back home. Yep! Back to my Swimming tomorrow, bright (hopefully) n early. πππ»
Lol thatβs funny bloody predictive text π am sure your knees are very lovely but obviously Iβve never seen them so am going to have to take your word for it lol xx
Lucky you! Acessor allocated to me lied. So,after a mere glance (doubt if he read consultant's report/s), Mr 'medical' totally ignored my presence and continued with his two fingers typing for 12 minutes only for me to receive 445 back to back pages of inaccuracies. No tests carried out.......
Four disks impacted the spine as with weekly injections, my right arm (elbow) swollen - injections failed now due op as with further injections to neck. Concentration as to my removing coat!! *Lie* - wasn't wearing coat. So the infmous ATOS have not changed.
Sorry to hear you had such a negative outcome and hope that you have lodged your appeal, perhaps if you didn't before have a partner or friend present at any future assessment to observe fair play...Regards Ski's
Ah Skiss my very dear, unique little Yorkshire pud, so pleased for you. Your good humour Keeps me smiling Skiss, don't ever change. Love to Scruffy, eat well tonight. βοΈπxxx
Dear Stumpy person love of my life.this as they say is "have i got old news for you" being 4 moths old but what is time between friends, hoping you and yours are improving and keeping well and it will soon be time for my Pip review lol.
Oh Skiss, thanks for being you, your a blessing to all of us with your strength of mind and kindness to one and all, even when your having a bad day, your support to others including me makes sure we all have a positive day. I stumble and fall sometimes like the rest of us but onwards and upwards is the way forward . I have a good solid family behind me and this forum is amazing. God Bless you my friend βοΈπxxx
