Rollercoasting.

You pay to go on rollercoasters,

But COPD is free.

Down you go when feeling bad,

Back up with Auntie B.

Coughing up stuff is terrible,

But it's lovely when you stop.

Always carry tissues,

Don't get caught upon the hop.

You deal with things discreetly,

So people never guess,

That though you never look it,

You're suffering some distress.

The big thing to remember,

Is just do as you're told.

Though COPD is terrible

It won't stop you getting old.

(Don, 86 and still coffin dodging.)

Good start to Saturday Don. I'll be thinking about the funny side of it when the clinic surgeon cuts out a cyst on my forehead. Today. Jane

You’ll be glad to get shut of that then Chubby. That’s the way to deal with those things, everything has a funny side if you look for it. 😉x

Hey Don, you're not a cockney by any chance, are you? Coffin dodger was one of my mum's favourite expressions, she was a Londoner, born and bred.

Your rhyme is so true, of Bronchiectasis as well as COPD. Never know how you are going to feel when you wake up, but the main thing is just keep waking up!

Bye eck! I'm Lancashire born and bred. I have got around a bit though in my daze. :-)

Sounds like that expression got around a bit too. I daresay a lot of those lines originated from the old Music Hall comedians. People certainly needed a laugh in those times, black humour too.

Well I was Lancashire born and bred in Dalton-in-Furness but when I wasn't looking they changed it to Cumbria - can't remember when but I know people weren't happy about it. Take care, Sheila x

Another old saying -

It wasn't the cough

That carried 'im off

It was the coffin

They carried 'im off in!

in reply to Lyd12

That is an old saying. I'm trying to dodge both, the first not very sucessfully I'm afraid.
