Is there any relationship between asthma and diabetes
Hello Maya123456 and welcome to the forum. Here is some reading for you.
Hi Maya,
I don’t know about air conditioner. But indirectly, there is a relationship between asthma and diabetes.
Why indirectly? This is how. You have asthma, you can get chest infections. If anti-biotics don’t clear the infection, the doctors will give you steroids to clear it.
One of the side effects of the steroids, is diabetes.
Now, this won’t happen with a single week long course of the steroids. It would have to be lots of courses over a number of years before it happens, if it happens.
Obviously different people react in different ways, and what side effects of the pills affect one person, may not affect another.
So, indirectly, there is a link between diabetes and asthma - but it’s a tenuous one.
Unfortunately I know this, because I’m one of the unlucky ones that has been given diabetes by years upon years of taking prednisolone to clear my chest infections.
Hope this helps.

Me too Symes though I am more pre diabetes and only go full blown after a course of prednisone when my blood sugar rises to the 50s
I was diagnosed 5 years back in April 2013. I was admitted to hospital with an asthma attack. They took my BGL shortly after admittance, which was 18.1 mmol, so they did the Hba1c test which came back as positive for Type 2 Diabetes.
The diabetic specialist nurse that came to see me on the ward a few days later confirmed it was because of the steroids.
Gotta love those little white smarties. Fix one problem, cause another.
