Collapsed lung symptoms?
In my experience a collapsed lung is excruciatingly painful.
Pete had one once and couldn’t breathe. Xx
I have had 2 collapsed lungs before. Yes, it would be obvious. You get chest pains and struggle to breathe. The pain radiates up to your neck. If it is a full collapse, you can sometimes walk for 10 seconds then you will have to stop because of being out of breathe and in pain.
If you have any of these symptoms I would advise a trip to A&E to get an X-Ray done asap.
Not really, depends how laboured your breathing was in the first place. First couple of times I didn’t really notice until the nurse told me! Last time I told them..
It does depend, I walked round for 3 days with my first one and only had slight discomfort but my second one I had a lot of pain, I would say if you suspect you have one seek medical advice ASAP
Mine probably happened when I was an infant, only diagnosed via an X Ray at 16, If you suspect you have a collapsed lung get it checked out ASAP so that any treatment you need can be started immediately.
i had one a couple of years ago, 10 oclock in the morning i was more s.o.b. than usual ,it gradually worsened so that by 12 o clock i could barely breathe, my wife had to call an ambulance, i was diagnosed with a pneumothorax i was told i would be more prone to them now having had my first, but thankfully i haven't had one since. only bad thing i was advised not to fly any more, so thats my holidays abroad gone.
When mine went it felt like I was being stung by hundreds of bees
I have a “folded” right lung due to Pleural Plaques and is does make your breathing a tad harder and eventually due to the Plaque build up I will lose it completely but hey ho could be worse, a person just gets used to it and adjusts the life style to suit
I also have had 2 collapsed lungs and if it is a full collapse you will have trouble breathing and eating and drinking is a painful and a real struggle, even something simple like walking is a real no no. Go straight to a and e for a chest x ray, all the best
It is very painful difficult to breath it puts you off your food, no walking or exercise at all. Get sorted out straight away see your GP see the BLF helpline. Tell your boss get all the sympathy you can. Good luck.

Hi, having had 3No collapsed lungs over a period, I would suggest that you would be feeling the effects. Initially it feels like a"stitch" then you start to get breathless and the pain in the side doesn't go away. If any of this sounds familiar get to you doctor ASAP, then you must have an xray to determine that the lung is deflated.
