When trying to take a selfie
Some folk get up my nose.
I'm trying to show my polo shirt
In a photographic pose.
It's now become quite clear to me
Just to let you know,
If I want to be a model
The dog will have to go.

What a lovely photo Don, loving the hat and happy Midge. Made me smile. Xxx 😀
I have a collection of straw hats and each one has memories:
I know that Midge often looked at me
When I was wearing my hat.
And wondered why I wore on my head
Such a tasty morsel as that.
And so it was that my straw hat
Had a hole getting bigger and bigger
Until it finally reached the stage
Where people began to snigger.
So Scarborough is the place to go,
To get a hat with style.
A line of shops down Foreshore Street
That must stretch for a mile.
And there it was looking just the job
I said "You must be mine".
A bit expensive I thought
At four pounds ninety-nine!
Don, when my son came home from his holiday in Australia, he came home with a lovely straw that that he wore throughout his holiday. The poor hat didn't manage one day at home with our little rascal, she chewed a lovely hole in it. X x
Worth every penny Don. Suits you sir ! Sheila x
Maybe Midge just likes polo's Master Po.,,,,, Ski's and a mint free cat x
Maybe, hope this one doesn't have a hole though
Sun's shining this morning Don, you'll be able to show off your new shirt and logo. Have a good day. Jane
Lovely photo, reminds me of my jack russels, they do like to lick x x
Very dapper you look too! I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you keep a record of all your rhymes? Please say you do for they are a great way to bring a smile into a miserable day!
I bought a polo shirt, a mug and a shopping bag from BLF. My aim was to have a photo of Midge sitting in the shopping bag with me next to her in my polo shirt holding my mug. After trying for goodness knows how long, I gave up as it was putting a serious strain on our relationship.
Sorry, I don't keep a record of my rhymes, I leave that up to admin who store all posts (as I understand it) even for posters who have left. I did leave for a spell and a search on the names I used should bring those up. There must be getting on for 200 rhymes now., most of them rubbish.
Now do t you be calling your "happy go lucky" rhymes rubbish.....they really do make so many folk on here smile. If you could only bottle it,you'd be a millionaire eh? Of course,I'd be your overbearing agent who takes a HUGE chunk of any monies!(that's when we go "viral"!!!!??)
😂 What’s the point? I already feel like millionaire when I read the “You made me smile” messages. 😘
Regardless of what you say, you have a real gift and I love your poems. I love the humour of them too. Please keep writing them for us. I would really like to see you keeping the poems all together in one spot. That way, others can continue to enjoy them into the future. All the very best to you. Cheers, Bev
Thank you for that Bev, I intend to keep posting to as long as I can. 😀 If you rate my little rhymes why not create a folder and copy and paste into it those which give you a giggle? All my posts are unlocked and anybody interested enough can view them with a bit of effort. It’s about getting folk to notice and support BLF. 😇
Love the poems Don, but please don’t get rid of Midge lol.
The BLF clothing is awesome isn’t it? I got myself one of their fleece jackets last week, and I love that too!
Thanks Symes. Yes, I saw your message and how happy you are with what you bought. Belated happy birthday BTW. Their stuff is of very good quality. I hesitated about the fleece not sure about the size, but now I have the polo shirt, which fits perfectly, I'll be ordering some other things.
My idea is to wear these things on my travels around the country in the campervan hoping someone might stop me and ask "Are you Don the Rhymer?" Now that would really make my day.
Just need something for Midge to wear.
